49 year old Morris Steven Allen of Liberty died Saturday at Gateway Medical Center. He was disabled and a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be Wednesday at noon at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Shane Smith and Perry Clayton will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at noon. He is survived by his wife, Judith Goodwin Allen of Liberty. His parents, John and Geneva Allen of Lafayette. Six children, Shawn and his wife Tiffany Allen and their children Hannah and C.J. of Smithville; Jennifer and her husband Benito Castroena and their children MacKenzie, Drew, and Jaeleigh of Smithville; Sammy and his wife Sonja Allen and their children Kobe, Jarrica, Dante, Josh, Matthew, Elijah, Eliza, and Dakota of Coalmont; Kim Pack and children, Misty and her husband Kirk Wilson and Brian Pack of Smithville; Jeff and his wife Nikki Goodwin and children, Gunnison, Garrison, and Grace Ann of Nashville; Kathy and her husband Dewayne Jacobs and children Tavia and MaKayla Easterwood of Alabama. Four great grandchildren, Brittany Petty, Cody Pack, J.J. Pack, and Cameron Wilson. One brother, Edward Allen of Coalmont and special nephew, Aaron Ammons. Willette M. Anderson
100 year old Willette M. Anderson, owner of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, died Sunday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. She was a DeKalb County native and had been in the funeral business since 1936. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria, where she was a charter member. Amos Jarman and Thurman Seber will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the funeral home and Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Martin and Ella Vandergriff Martin; her husband of 65 years, Robert T. Anderson; brothers, Charles B. Martin and James H. “Chic” Martin; and a sister, Maurine Malone. Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Phyllis and Carl Paschal of Alexandria. Four grandchildren, Pam and her husband Aaron Huddleston of Lebanon, Sharon Paschal of Alexandria, Lanee and her husband Terry Young of Mount Juliet, and Ron and his wife Tina Paschal of Alexandria. 82 year old Alene Bandy of Smithville died Sunday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Willie Pack Murphy; her husband, T.J. Bandy; two brothers, Robert and B.L. Murphy; and a sister Wilma Farris. Survivors include a daughter, Lois and her husband Douglas Walker of Smithville. Kirke Eddy Vernon
66 year old Kirke Eddy Vernon of Cumming, Georgia died at Northside Hospital in Atlanta on Monday. He was a long time resident of Connecticut. Vernon was the son of the late Hollis Vernon and Jean Wilkes. He regularly attended the Black Rock Congregational Church of Fairfield, Connecticut and hosted a weekly Bible study. He also represented Connecticut in multiple Senior Olympic Games for both tennis and swimming events. A memorial service will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Cumming First United Methodist Church. Rimes McElveen will officiate. A reception will be held immediately following the service. 66 year old Evelyn Ruth Davis of Allens Ferry Road, Sparta died Thursday at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Sparta. 74 year old James Alton Hildreth of the Green Hill Community died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital of an extended illness. He was a farmer, native of Warren County, and a member of the Green Hill Church of Christ. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Homer Galyan will officiate and burial will be in the Webb Cemetery at Bluff Springs in Warren County. She was a retired secretary at Cedars of Lebanon State Park, a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church, and a member of the Smithville Study Club. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Neal Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Vann; parents, John and Fannie Bates Foutch; and two sisters, Ora Reed and Ethel Barrett. Survivors include a nephew, Ralph and his wife Lucille Reed of Lebanon and two nieces, Juanita Barber of Hermitage and Dorothea Marschall of Gallatin. 77 year old Charlie Gaston Malone of Dry Fork Road, Brush Creek died Tuesday at his residence. The body is at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home where the funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. Bill Gay will officiate and burial will be in the Union Hill Cemetery in Sykes. The Malone family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel on Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Scotty Barrett of Brush Creek. Roy Glenn Whitfield
89 year old Roy Glenn Whitfield of Rome, Tennessee died Monday at his residence. He was born in the Cario Bend Community of Wilson County, the son of the late Era Wilkerson and Willis Whitfield. Three brothers preceded him in death, Howard, Lester, and Frank Whitfield. Mr. Whitfield was a veteran of World War II. He worked in Tool and Die factories in Michigan, Texas, and Tennessee. A graveside service and burial will be in Smith County Memorial Gardens at Carthage on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. James Thomas Gibbs will officiate. Family and friends will assemble at the Carthage Chapel of Bass Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. and proceed in procession to the Memorial Gardens for the 11:00 a.m. service.
