56 year old Charles Allen “Chuck” Foster of Chesterfield, Michigan and a native of DeKalb County died Wednesday morning at Mt. Clemons Regional Medical Center. Foster was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Michael Hale will officate. He was preceded in death by his father Toy B. Foster and a brother Douglas Foster. He is survived by his wife Linda L. Foster of Chesterfield, Michigan. A daughter Jennifer Foster of Denver, Colorado. A great grand-daughter Gabriella. Three step children Barney Cook and Darin Cook of Chesterfield, Michigan and Constance Domutz of Warren Michigan Step grandchildren Jacob Cook and Brandon Domutz. His mother Myrtle Leonard of Dowelltown. A brother Robert Wheelock of Smithville. Sisters Rita and Kathy of Smithville. and several aunts, uncles and cousins. John Rickey “Bumper Jack” Brown

51 year old John Rickey “Bumper Jack” Brown of Smithville died Thursday at his residence. He was in the Ready Mix Construction business. The family will have a private funeral at the request of Mr. Brown. Trent Colwell will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his mother Margie Brown; two brothers, Carl Freeman Brown and Roscoe Brown; and a sister, Judy Louise Brown. He is survived by a daughter, Amber Dawn Brown of Celina. Five brothers, Glen and his wife Vonda Brown, Curtis and his wife Cathy Brown, Hoss and his wife Holly Brown, Lonnie and his wife Carol Brown, and Bruce Brown all of Smithville. Two sisters, Dorothy and her husband Gary Sanders of Woodbury and Jean Brown of Smithville. His dad, J.B. Brown of Celina. One grandson, Tyler Sharp of Celina. Nettie Maurene Parsley

89 year old Nettie Maurene Parsley of Smithville died Wednesday night at the Quality Care Health Center in Lebanon. She was a homemaker and attended the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Franklin Bratcher will officiate and burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Parsley; five brothers, E.J., Manuel, Robert, Charlie, and Ben Taylor; and a sister, Elizabeth Sandlin. Survivors include a daughter, Ollie Mai Parsley of Madison. Two sons, David and his wife Connie Parsley and Bill and his wife Janice Parsley of Smithville. Phillip David Lack

47 year old Phillip David Lack of Murfreesboro died Saturday at NHC of Lewisburg. He was born in Rutherford County and was the son of the late Charles Edward and Barbara McCullough Lack. He was a member of the Baptist Church and a former owner and operator of Express Lube on Broad Street in Murfreesboro.The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro. David Ash and Marvin Davis will officiate and burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. He is survived by a daughter, Danielle Lack of Murfreesboro. A son, Alan Lack of Smithville. Andrew Bert Horvath

59 year old Andrew Bert Horvath of Smithville died Saturday at the V.A. Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was an Aircraft Fabricator with AVCO. Horvath was also a U.S. Army veteran and served in Vietnam. A memorial visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elmridge Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his father, Bert Horvath; a daughter, Andrea Horvath; a brother, Gary Horvath; and his mother-in-law, Jane Cook. Survivors include his wife, Janie Cook Horvath of Smithville. A daughter, Missy Sawyer and a granddaughter, Carolynne Sawyer both of Florida. His mother and step-father, Freda Horvath and Rolland Canada and a sister, Dianne Hill all of West Virginia. A brother, Gene and his wife Sharon Horvath of Washington. 83 year old Helen Ofallon Malone of Alexandria, a garment factory worker, died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a DeKalb County native and a Baptist. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Leonard Herman will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Belvie Herman Hale; her husband, Hubert Bratten Malone; a son, Dwight Malone; a sister, Morene Scott; and brothers, James Hale and Kenneth Hale. Survivors include a grandson Bradley Malone, brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Scott of Cottontown, Inez Anderson, Willette Hale, Jack and his wife Aundra Hale, and Betty and her husband Charles Clayborn all of Alexandria. 92 year old Edna Mayes Woodlee of McMinnville died Saturday at the Raintree Manor. She was a retired cafeteria manager at Warren County Senior High School and a member of the West Riverside Church of Christ. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Vernon Joines and Tim Woodward will officiate and burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. “Bob” Woodlee; her parents, Oscar and Mary Pearson Mayes; a brother, George Mayes; and sisters, Lucille Blankenship, Carrie Blanks, Frances Bell, and Charlene Smith. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Earl Blair of Smithville and Gail Woodlee of McMinnville. Two brothers, Howard and his wife Joice Mayes and J.W. “Willie” and his wife Bobbie Mayes all of McMinnville. A sister, Betty Walker of McMinnville and several nieces and nephews also survive. 89 year old Mary Charles Pistole of Murfreesboro and formerly of Liberty died Wednesday at NHC Healthcare of Murfreesboro. She was born in Liberty and she was a teacher and a member of Salem Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church. Don Mathis will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Lee and Intha Sissom Pistole; two brothers, Vesper and his wife Eva Pistole and Jimmy Pistole. 86 year old Sherry Ann Galten of Smithville died Wednesday afternoon at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Catholic and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. A memorial service will be held Friday at 3:30 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Don Davidson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:30 p.m. Galten was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Frank Galten and her parents. Survivors include a son, Lawrence Galten of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Malia and Alan Galten of Arizona. Two great grandchildren, Sarai and Cy.
