Edwin Webb

83 year old Edwin Webb of Chattanooga and a native of Smithville died Saturday at NHC of Chattanooga. He was a retired Church of God minister and a member of the Smithville Church of God. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Smithville Church of God. Walter P. Adkinson, Shannon Dodson, and Douglas Webb will officiate and burial will be in the Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Sarah Jane Bain Webb; a son, Joel M. Webb; a brother, Gene Webb; and four sisters, Irene Webb, Betty Jo Little, Prudell Judkins, and Christine Magness. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Fern Webb of Chattanooga. Children, Douglas M. and his wife Lavern Webb of Nashville, Dinah G. and her husband Larry Lamunyon of Chattanooga, Marsha K. and her husband Dwight Anderson of Nashville, Mickey E. and his wife Pam Webb of LaFollette, Jan E. and her husband Bob Beard of Coral Springs, Florida. Eight grandchildren, Darrel Cross, Shannon, and Tori Dodson, Stephanie Cooper, Sonja Franks, Mylon Webb, Ryan Saturday, and Webb Beard. Nine great grandchildren. Two brothers, Smith and his wife Mary Webb of McMinnville and Glenn and his wife Marie Webb of Smithville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Leonard Nixon

90 year old Leonard Nixon of Smithville died Tuesday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a retired Executive Director of the A.S.C.S. Office where he worked for over 20 years. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Gordon Lee and Terry Fesler will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Lockey Taylor Nixon; a daughter, Betty Nixon Vickers; three brothers, Hubert, Haskell, and Troy Nixon; and a sister, Bertha Cowan. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lorene Nixon of Smithville. Two children, Don and his wife Patsy Nixon of Smithville, Bobbie and Pat Murphy of Old Hickory. Five grandchildren, Kathy Vickers, Michael and Matthew Murphy all of Old Hickory, Kevin Vickers of Lebanon, and Steven Nixon of Columbia. One brother, Virgil and his wife Reba Nixon of Watertown. Ralph Morris Batey

62 year old Ralph Morris Batey of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a retired animal shelter worker with the City of Smithville. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bobby Thomason will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dink Batey and Goldie Trusty Bandy. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Jennifer Batey of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Morgan Batey and Dustin Jennings both of Smithville. Two brothers, Billy Batey of Watertown and Carl Bandy of Smithville and one sister, Denice James of Georgia. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 77 year old Alice Dimmick of the Dale Ridge Community died Friday at NHC Health Care Center in Smithville. Mrs. Dimmick’s remains have been cremated. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Dimmick. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Elizabeth Frances Hendrixson

86 year old Elizabeth Frances Hendrixson of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and attended the First Assembly of God. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Glenn Burks will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Schuyler Hendrixson; her parents, James and Willie Warren Redmon; a son, Joe Hendrixson; great granddaughter, Holly Michelle Lawrence; sisters, Cilla Mae Redmon and Magdalene Emberton; and a brother, Charlie Redmon. She is survived by two daughters, Mertie Lawrence and Doris and her husband Jerry Beshearse. William “Billy” Northcutt, Jr.

44 year old William “Billy” Northcutt, Jr. of Smithville died Friday at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He was a Baptist and an employee of Walker Tenneco Automotive. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He is survived by his parents, William and Frances Northcutt, Sr. of Quebeck. A brother, Gene Arnold, Jr. of Texas. Three sisters, Connie Rowan of Ohio, Doreen Shepherd of Smithville, and Valerie Pugh of Old Hickory. Six nephews and four nieces also survive. 64 year old Don Matthews died Thursday. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Annie Matthews. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Matthews. Children, Donna Arsenault, Melinda Miner, and Ray Matthews and his wife Jerri. Seven grandchildren. Two sisters, Linda Culwell and Shirley Caldwell and her husband Joe. 64 year old Prentice A. Cantrell of Smithville died Thursday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was a contractor and painter and he attended the Coopers Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Wilma Cantrell of Smithville. Paul McKinley Davis

80 year old Paul McKinley Davis of Dowelltown died Friday at the Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Veteran, member of the American Legion, member of the Dowelltown United Methodist Church, and a painter. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. David Lunsford, Charles Martin, and Jim Bretl will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Liberty with military honors. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bessie Oakley Davis; a son, Bob Davis; a brother, Tom Davis; and a sister, Pauline Martin. 77 year old Lennell Haggard of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was the retired owner of Haggard Body Shop and a Baptist.
