80 year old Paul Davis of Dowelltown died Friday night at the V.A. Hospital in Murfreesboro. The body is at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Arrangements are incomplete.

Bobbie Jean Houk
70 year old Bobbie Jean Houk of Smithville died Wednesday at her residence. She was a Pentecostal and a retired factory worker. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Toy Lawson will officiate and burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Lee Neal; two sons, Jimmy and James Griffith; a daughter, Marie McBride; and a grandson, Stephen Patrick. Survivors include five children, Charles and his wife Phyllis Griffith of Alexandria, Maurice Griffith of Smithville, Deborah Page of Smithville, Teresa Griffith of Nashville, and Melissa Culwell of Nashville. Her mother, Nancy Lillian Neal of Smithville. Fifteen grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren. Two brothers, Doug and his wife Kathy Neal and L.W. Neal all of Smithville. Four sisters, Loretta and her husband Junior Bain of Smithville, Linda Fay Knowles of Smithville, Patricia and her husband Chester Sanders of Smithville, and Elaine McGuire of Spencer. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses.
Kenith Wayne Byford
69 year old Kenith Wayne Byford of Dowelltown died Wednesday at his residence. He was a Baptist and a retired truck driver for Model City Auto Sales. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orvil Lee and Helen Gertrude Murphy Byford and a granddaughter, Shanna Pinegar. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Corey Funk of Smithville. One granddaughter, Shelly and her husband Tim Hearn of Alexandria. Four great grandchildren, Victoria Tatrow and Katlyn Pinegar both of Smithville and Jaycee Johnson and Jayden Hearn both of Alexandria. One brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Jeanette Byford of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 93 year old Lou Harrison Puckett of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a gardener, a retired farmer, and a member of the Buckner’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Michael Carpenter will officiate and burial will be in the Burton-Ponder Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Friday from 9:00 a.m.until the time of the funeral. Puckett was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Harrison Puckett; her parents, Noah Samuel Parsley and Nancy Elizabeth Vanhooser Parsley; brothers, Edward and Elmer Parsley; and a sister, Odell Shriver. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Hearon Puckett and Ann Nixon Puckett; granddaughters, Tecia Lou Puckett Pryor and Mary Ann Puckett; grandsons-in-law, John Pryor and Jack Barton; and great grandchildren, Harrison Puckett Pryor and Tess Annabel Barton all of Smithville. 79 year old Ruby Lee Taylor of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bobby Charles Martin and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Nannie Ray Trusty; sisters, Mazelle Gunter, Virginia Keaton, and Ruthene Murphy; and a brother, Hoyte Trusty. Survivors include her husband, Doyle Taylor of Smithville. Three children, Jeanette and her husband Cliff Stephens of Pegram, Patricia James Keeley of Mount Juliet, and Tony and his wife Donna Taylor of Ashland City. Five grandchildren, Richie Allen, Christi McDonald, Stoney Keeley, Brandi Scott, and Chelsea Taylor. Four great grandchildren, Cody Allen, Maddux McDonald, Makenna McDonald, and Aiden Scott. 61 year old James Calvin Knowles of Centertown died Sunday at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville of a brief illness. He was born in DeKalb County, a Baptist, and was a truck driver for the Batesville Casket Company. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Michael Farr and Jeff Crips will officiate and burial will be in the Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. He is survived by his wife, Brenda McCormick Knowles of Centertown. Four children and their spouses, Darrell and Sandy Knowles of Smithville, Becky and David Sullins of Rock Island, Dena and Tom Tanner of Centertown, and Jerry Beaty of Centertown. Seven grandchildren, Miranda and James Barkve of Tullahoma, Ashley Knowles and Natasha Driver both of Rock Island, Kaitom and Drew Tanner of Centertown, and Breanna and Britney Knowles of Smithville. One great grandchild, J.J. Smith of Tullahoma. Three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Altie Knowles, Donnie and Donna Kay Knowles, and Melvin and Teresa Knowles all of Smithville. 68 year old Martha Linder Caldwell of Smithvlle died Monday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was a Baptist and was retired from Kingston Timer. The funeral will be Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Classie James and Flossie Bain Linder; a son, James Clinton Gregory; and a brother, J.C. Linder. Survivors include her husband, Hoyte Caldwell of Smithville. A daughter, Brenda and her husband Authur Aguilera of Indiana. Sons, Randy and his wife Debbbie Gregory of Westmoreland and Daniel Caldwell of New Jersey. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. 92 year old Frank Jennings Cope of Smithville died Friday night of an extended illness at his residence. He was a member of the Keltonburg United Methodist Church, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, a retired Landscape Engineer, and a member of the American Legion and VFW. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Keltonburg Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene; and a sister, Ruth. He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie Cope of Smithville. Three children, Marsha Fleer, Patricia Landrum, and Richard Cope. Three step-children, Barbara Gohs, and William and James Sanders. Robert (Bob) Campbell
73 year old Robert (Bob) Campbell of Gassaway died Thursday at NHC Health Care Center of Murfreesboro of an extended illness. He was a Cannon County native, a member of the Clear Fork Methodist Church, a Mason of DeKalb Lodge #358, and he was a retired steam fitter and plumber. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Steve Kelly and James McDonald will officiate and burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 9:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Jessie Melton Campbell and a sister, Clara Hawkins. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jerris Hines Campbell of Gassaway. Four children, Robin Gunter, Mike and his wife Sharon Campbell, Jill Ellis, and Mark Campbell all of Gassaway and a sister, Kate Woods of Grants, New Mexico. 86 year old Susie Mai Miller of Bradyville died Friday at Stones River Hospital of Woodbury. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
