Betty Annette Wilson Duke

51 year old Betty Annette “Betty Boop” Wilson Duke died Sunday of an extended illness at River Park Hospital in McMinnville. She was a resident of Smithville and a Cannon County native. She was also a dietary aide at Stones River Hospital in Woodbury and a member of the Center Hill Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Greg Mitchell will officiate and burial will be in the McMahan Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m; after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, and Wednesday until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her mother, Floy D. Wilson; a son, Jason Duke; and brothers, Charles and Jeffery “Mutt” Wilson. Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Duke of Spencer. Three grandchildren, Jason, Tyler, and Juan all of Cookeville. Four sisters, Faye Bedwell, Debbie Campbell, and Crystal Robinson all of Woodbury, and Emma Conatser of Smithville. Darlene Crymes

63 year old Darlene Crymes of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker. The funeral will be Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Frances Pirtle Taylor; a son, Mark Anthony Lawrence; and a sister, Oma Mai Tramel. Survivors include her husband, Billy Crymes of Smithville. A daughter, Louise and her husband Glenn Ferrell of Smithville. One son, Michael and his wife Rachel Lawrence of Smithville. Four grandchildren, Jennifer Pack, Rebecca Lawrence, Steven Lawrence, and Harley Lawrence all of Smithville. Lee Homer Miller

79 year old Lee Homer Miller of Smithville died Monday at his residence. He was a retired nurseryman and a member of the New Home Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Virgil Hibdon, Jr. and Mike Clayborn will officiate and burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lee and Annie Vanhooser Miller; sisters, Johnnie Miller Certain and Nettie Johnson; a brother, James Miller; a brother-in-law, Charlie Certain; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Miller; a son-in-law, Author Redmon; and a granddaughter, Christie Miller. 69 year old Jewell Brown Lawson of Liberty died Thursday in Nashville. He was a retired nurseryman. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Lawson and Minnie Bell Bain Lawson Farless; his wife, Willette Estes Lawson; a brother, Limmie Lawson; three sisters, Emmie Farless, Thelma Caldwell, and Susie Farris; and a half brother, Carlon Mathaney. Geraldine McClure

77 year old Geraldine McClure of McMinnville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired factory worker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Brice and Ophia Elizabeth Johnson McClure; a sister, Diana Rainwater; and a brother, Marlon Brice McClure. She is survived by a sister, Wanda Bond of Smithville and several nieces and nephews. Ms. McClure’s remains have been cremated. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Jane McGinnis

73 year old Jane McGinnis of the Keltonburg Community died Wednesday at her residence. She was a member of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church, a farmer, and a retired school teacher, having taught for 34 years in the DeKalb County School System. A graveside service and burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Whorton Springs Cemetery. Michael Hale will officiate. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis R. and Lina Jane Love McGinnis. She is survived by a son Danny Love McGinnis of Smithville and a niece, Sally Ann Thompson of Texas. Adara Jade Reese

Adara Jade Reese, infant daughter of Beth Buck and Nick Reese of Smithville,died Sunday at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. A graveside service will be held Monday (today) at 6:00 p.m. at the Petty Cemetery. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kaiden Joshua Reese; an aunt, Michelle Beasley; and cousins, Joshua Reese and Joshua Murphy. In addition to her parents, the infant is survived by her maternal grandparents, Robin and Clint Bibby of Smithville and Dean and Shirley Buck of Michigan and her paternal grandparents, Nickey and Remega Cantrell of Smithville. 61 year old John W. Melton of Auburntown died Saturday at his home of an extended illness. He was a Cannon County native, a Baptist, a member of the National Guard, and an employee of the Tennessee Farmer’s Co-op at Lavergne. 78 year old Roy Mason Trapp of Smithville died Friday at his residence. He was a member of the Buckners Chapel United Methodist Church, a member of the I.A.M. Local 735, and a retired Aircraft Mechanic with Avco. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. 88 year old Mildred H. Vandygriff of the Gassaway Community died Thursday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was a homemaker. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Sycamore Baptist Church, where she was a member for 75 years. Richard Williams will officiate and burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Woodbury Funeral Home.
