97 year old Nettie Jim Edge of the Dry Creek Community died Saturday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. She was a homemaker, a retired shirt factory worker, a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church, and a member of the WMU. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Mike Gay and Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Henry and Lona Bell Haas Frazier; her husband, Bernice Alvie Edge; a daughter, Jeanette Thweatt; brothers, Roy Vernon Frazier and Woodrow Wilson Frazier; and sisters, Eunice Gertrude Jordan and Anna Rhea Washer. Survivors include two sons, Kenny Edge of Dowelltown and Teddy and his wife Amy Edge of Ardmore. Five grandchildren, Anita Puckett of Smithville, Greg Thweatt of California, Reed Edge of Dowelltown, Andrew Edge of Madison, Alabama and Stephanie Claunch of Ardmore. Thirteen great grandchildren survive along with three sisters-in-law, Louise Frazier of Dowelltown, Dean Edge of Smithville, and Ruth Edge. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

80 year old Wilma Jean Martin Ward of Morrison died Saturday of an extended illness. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Independent Baptist Church. Ray Skyles and Johnny Haston will officiate and burial will be in the Eureka Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at High Funeral Home in McMinnville and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at the church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Marie Christian. Survivors include her husband, Thurman Ward of the Smartt Station Community. Eight sons and daughters-in-law, Paul E. and Janice Ward of Smithville, Kenneth L. and Audrey Ward of Rock Island, David G. and Reda Ward of McMinnville, Murrell Ward of Pikeville, Michael A, and Janice Ward of Smithville, Thurman Lynn and Laurie Ward of Pikeville, James Ray Ward of Holiday, Florida, and Timothy A. Ward of Rock Island. Three daughters and sons-in-law, Martha J. and Kenneth Braswell of Carthage, Brenda L. and Ricky Henderson of Rock Island, and Linda J. and Tommy Thompson of Rock Island. Twenty four grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren survive along with two sisters, Winona Ward and Juanita Oliver both of McMinnville. A half-brother, James Martin of Kansas. 85 year old Rosie Lee Hale Simmons of McMinnville died Wednesday at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was a member of the Campaign Church of God of Prophecy. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Vernon Caruthers and Danny Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by brothers, Author, Ed and Cooper Hale and a sister, Karon Scarlett. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Oma Norrod of McMinnville and Larry and Phyllis Norrod of Smithville. Two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Buddy Jones and Paula and David Rogers, Jr. all of McMinnville. Fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A sister, Agatha Lawrence of McMinnville. A brother and sister-in-law, A.T. Hale, Jr. and Helen of Campaign. Sister-in-law, Ruth Hale of McMinnville. 50 year old Johnny Ray Ball of the Pea Ridge Community died Tuesday at his residence. He was an automotive welder. A graveside service will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the Banks Cemetery. Michael Hale will officiate. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert Marshall Ball and Letha Saddler Phelps. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Ball of Michigan. Four children, Johnny Wayne Ball of Liberty, and Jennifer Marie Ball, Sue Ellen Ball, and Jessie Lynn Ball all of Michigan. Grandchildren, Kaiden Frances Ball, Austin Gabriel Cloven, and Olivia Amber Marie Murphy, and an aunt, Pauline Fish of Smithville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. 47 year old Vivian Garrison of Dowelltown died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Cantrell and Martha Ann Barnes Foster. 65 year old Ruby Mae Norman died Sunday at her home in Manchester. She was born in Liberty to the late Jim B. Martin, Sr. and Goldie Odom Martin. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Jeanette Martin, Nettie Jane League, and Sara Francis League; three brothers, Harry Lee Martin, Jim B. Martin, Jr., and Frank Roy Martin. The funeral will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Central Funeral Home in Manchester. Ollie R. Mount will officiate and burial will follow in the Cypress Gardens Cemetery in Manchester. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Central Funeral Home. Survivors include her husband, Oscar Ray Norman of Manchester. One son, Carl Everett Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Toy and Trudie Parsley Pedigo; Four brothers, Elmo, Cordell, James, and Leo Pedigo; and three sisters, Willie Cantrell, Evelyn Sandlin, and Myrtle Stanley. Survivors include two brothers, Walter “Tiny” Pedigo of Smithville and Clarence Pedigo of Smithville. One sister, Mandy Vaughn of Smithville. The funeral will be Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 4:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Myrtle Vaughn. Survivors include her Fiance, Jim Dunsworth of Smithville. One son, T.J. Harper of Smithville. Five brothers, Wayne and his wife, Amy Vaughn of Fosterville, Kenneth Vaughn of Murfreesboro, Billy and his wife Sharon Vaughn of Lavergne, Ricky and his wife Susan Vaughn of Smyrna, and Vernon Vaughn of Smithville. Two sisters, Judy Youngblood of Smithville and Linda Potts of Arizona. Local nephews and a niece, Tom Vaughn, Chris Vaughn, and Tiffany Youngblood all of Smithville. 79 year old Sallie Parker Foutch of Smithville died Monday afternoon at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a former Chairman of the DeKalb County Board of Education and founder of the Girl Scouts in DeKalb County. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Smithville First United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Mark Pafford will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett Morgan and Clara Cantrell Parker; her husband, McAllen Foutch; a sister, Peggy Parker; and a grandchild, Ann Claire Judkins. Survivors include two daughters, LeAnn Foutch Judkins of Smithville and LuAllen “Lucy” Foutch of Hermitage. Two step-daughters, Sarah Faircloth of Athens, Georgia and Dorothy Holman of Houston, Texas. Two grandsons, Jim and Mac Judkins of Smithville. One sister, Billie Ann Parker of Nashville. One brother, Jack and his wife Walteen Parker of Smithville.
