61 year old Betty Ann Adcock of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sink Creek Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Wendell Judkins will officiate and burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Woods and Minervia Durham Peoples; a daughter, Lori Smith; sisters, Ruby Bates, Margaret Martin, and Minnie Jo Hattaway; and brothers, Leon Peoples, Sampson Peoples, and Harvey Neal Peoples. Evelyn Frances Curtis

84 year old Evelyn Frances Curtis of Alexandria died Friday at the Summit Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a DeKalb County native. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church, where she was a member. Ronnie Smith and Tommy Curtis will officiate and burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. There will be no visitation on Sunday due to Easter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Willie Malone Kitchings; her husband of 66 years Paul Curtis; and a brother, Charles B. Kitchings. Survivors include two daughters, Faye and her husband William Wooldridge of Lebanon and Kaye Hearn of Mount Juliet. Five grandchildren, Rick and his wife Christy Robinson of Murfreesboro, Mitch Robinson of Lebanon, Angie and her husband Alan Elkins, Anita and her husband Chip Jackson, and Kim and her husband Scott Lattimore all of Mount Juliet. Vestie H. Dyer

The funeral for 88 year old Vestie H. Dyer will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Baxter Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Odd Fellow Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Survivors include two sons, Lloyd Dyer and Billy J. Will D. Hancock

76 year old Will D. Hancock of Whitwell died Wednesday. He was a graduate of Woodbury Central High School. His family resided in Chattanooga before he retired from DuPont. After retirement, Hancock and his family moved to Whitwell where he was a cattle farmer. He also served as president of the Marion County Livestock Association. Hancock was an active member of the Jasper First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. Central Daylight Time at the Jasper First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery at Liberty. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the Sycamore Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Friday followed by a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at the Sycamore Cemetery. Hancock was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Mingle Hancock; his father and mother, Valter Ray and Nonnie Craddock Hancock; and nine brothers and sisters, Nell, Alfred, Ben, Bettye Sue, Reed, Ruth, John, Jane, and an infant sister. 42 year old David Wayne Murphy of Smithville died Sunday at River Park Hospital in McMinnville. He was a farmer. A graveside service will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Cannady Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Author Lee and Kathleen Crook Murphy and brothers, Jeff and Ralph Murphy. Survivors include three daughters, Jessica Hubbard and Christina Murphy both of Smithville, and Stephanie Murphy of Jamestown. Two sisters, Anna Faye Baker of Walling and Kathy Murphy of Shelbyville. 74 year old Freeland Gibbs of Alexandria died Sunday at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was a member of the Upper Helton Baptist Church and a retired employee of TRW Ross Gear. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Billy Robinson and Kurt Waggoner will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Lola Mae Burton Gibbs; an infant son, David Gibbs; a brother, Wendell Gibbs; and a sister, Elizabeth Ketchum. 69 year old Billy Close Cantrell of Alexandria died Friday at his residence. He was a self employed carpenter and a Baptist. 87 year old Betty Sue Hancock of Liberty died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church, a member of the Eastern Star, and a retired teacher in the Metro-Davidson County area. The funeral will be Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Sycamore Baptist Church. Phil Hancock will officiate and burial will be in Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Valter Ray and Nonnie Bess Craddock Hancock; brothers, Reed, Ben, Alfred, and John Hancock; and sisters, Nell Hancock, Jane Phelps, and Mary Ruth Cripps. Harry Gordon Foutch

95 year old former Trustee and County Judge Harry Gordon Foutch of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC Healthcare Center. He served as DeKalb County Judge and Trustee for a total of 12 years. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion. Foutch also formerly worked as a Federal Loan Officer for the Small Business Administration in Nashville and he was a member of the Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Friday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Jonathan Watson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Cora Close Foutch; his wife, Irene Wheat Foutch; and a brother, Clyde Foutch. Survivors include daughters, Helen Malone and Harriett and her husband Wayne Cantrell of Smithville. 82 year old John W. Watson of Green Hill Road, Smithville died Wednesday at his residence. He was a Dairy farmer and a member of the Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m.. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Virgil Hibdon, Jr and Greg Hibdon will officiate and burial will be in the Banks Cemetery.
