48 year old Barbara Gail Self of Smithville died Tuesday at her residence. She was a member of the Dowelltown United Methodist Church and a factory worker. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Sadie Redmon Sandlin and a sister, Pamela Kay Sandlin. Survivors include a son, Shannon Self and Kim Anderson of Watertown and a daughter, Elonda and her husband Blake Davis of Lebanon. Three sisters, Melissa Presnel of Smithville, Donna Certain of Cookeville, and Garnette Prater of McMinnville. Two brothers, Nelson and Lanny Sandlin both of Liberty. 80 year old Austin P. Vaughn of Smithville died Friday morning at DeKalb Community Hospital. The body is at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Arrangements are incomplete.

93 year old Cladye Bell Hayes of Liberty died Friday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. She was a Wilson County native. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Prosperity Baptist Church, where she was a member. Thurman Seber and Ricky Scott will officiate and burial will be in the Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10;00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Viola Chapman Dunn; her husband Elbert T. Hayes, and a sister, Irene Fluer. Survivors include a son, Phillip and his wife Linda Hayes of Watertown and a granddaughter, Ashley Hayes of Watertown. Linsley Baines of Statesville died Saturday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was born in Wilson County, a member of the Statesville United Methodist Church, and he was retired from Avco Aerostructures in Nashville. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Jim Newman, Randy Stevenson, and Tommy Davis will officiate and burial will be in the Jennings Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Baines and Alice Robinson Baines and his wife of 76 years, Jessie Mai Bullard Baines. Survivors include three children, Harold and his wife Lou Baines of Murfreesboro, Robert C. and his wife Dorothy Baines of Smithville, and Louise and her husband Robert O’Brien of Murfreesboro. Fred D. Townsley

83 year old Fred D. Townsley died Saturday at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. He was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He was also a World War II veteran. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Perry Clayton will officiate and burial will be in the Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lude Asberry Townsley; a daughter, Norma Gail Townsley; and a grandson, William Ross Cope. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Townsley of Nashville. Children, Marilyn Diann Presley, Fred David and his wife Debra Townsley, and Jackie Lea Townsley all of Livingston. 75 year old Louise Griffith Phillips of Smithville died Friday at Saint Thomas Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Northside Church of Christ. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Christine Hunt Griffith and a son, Walter Louis Phillips. Survivors include her husband, Walter Phillips of Smithville. Three children, Robert C. and his wife Brenda Hunt of Nashville, Cecilia D. Phillips of Smithville and Juanita L. and her husband Troy Lusk of Manchester. 72 year old Walter Maxwell of McMinnville died Thursday at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was born in DeKalb County. Maxwell was also a U.S. Army Veteran, a retired machinist with Magnetek Century Electric, and he attended the Bybee Branch Church of Christ. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Tony Lawrence and Nestor Stewart will officiate and burial will be in the Mount View Cemetery. Military grave rites will be administered by the VFW POST 5064 and the American Legion POST 173. The Maxwell family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at McMinnville Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Maxwell and Annie Laura Martin Maxwell. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Daisy Maxwell of McMinnville. 65 year old Mary Catherine Burks Cornett of New Tazwell died Wednesday at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. She was a Baptist and a waitress at Barber’s Coffee Shop. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Taylor’s Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her father, Monk Burks; a daughter, Lisa Ann Grant; A sister, Norma Jean Hayes; and two brothers, George Burks and Ralph Delon. Survivors include her husband Hubert Cornett of New Tazwell. Two sons, Darrell Luna of Sparta and LaVaughn Luna of Florida. Her mother, Mandy Burks of Sparta.
