90 year old Dora Margaret Allen, former resident of Alexandria and long time nurse for Lebanon Dr. Sam McFarland, died Tuesday at the Mount Juliet Health Care Center. She was born in Macon County. Allen was also a member of the West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria. A memorial service will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Jeff Hicks will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Allen; a daughter, Jane Allen; a son, Jimmy Allen; her parents, William Dailey Cothron and Elizabeth Carr Cothron; along with two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include three grandchildren, Amy Allen of Lebanon and Christy Allen and Jeremy Allen both of Youngsville, North Carolina. A brother, Ralph and his wife Mary Cothron of Hartsville. 44 year old Sandy Annette Jones of Murfreesboro died Tuesday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She worked in retail sales. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.. She is survived by her mother, Cecil Thweatt Kier of Las Vegas, Nevada. Emogene Cantrell Snow

75 year old Emogene Cantrell Snow of Smithville died Monday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Effie Hale Cantrell; her husband Wiley Snow; and a brother, Harold Cantrell. Survivors include six children, Brenda and her husband Donald Puckett, Joyce and her husband Jimmy Poss, Deborah and her husband Kenneth Magness, Denise and her husband David Rutland, Dwain and his wife Cathy Snow, and Jeanna Bain all of Smithville. Fifteen grandchildren, Shawn, Randall, and Brian Puckett, Tony Poss, Tonya Hattaway, Kenderly Cripps, Ryan and Nathan Magness, D.J. Rutland, Trista Armour, Eric and Andy Snow, Misty Gingerich, T.J. Bain, and Dalton Bain all of Smithville. Fifteen great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren survive along with a brother and his wife, Charles Lowe and Betty Cantrell of Smithville. Three sisters, Geraldine Williams of Lebanon, Dorothy and her husband Charles Scott of Lebanon, and Nancy and her husband Kenneth Pack of Smithville. Lawrence Parker Cantrell

80 year old Lawrence Parker Cantrell of Smithville died Monday at his residence. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, a Veteran of World War II, a farmer, and a 32nd degree Mason. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Royce Martin will officiate and burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. A Masonic Service will be held Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cantrell was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Beulah Ponder Cantrell and a sister, Nell Conley. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Lou Phillips Cantrell of Smithville. Five children, Deborah and her husband Lee Smith of Smithville; Vicky and her husband Donald Langston of Milton, Lawrence T. Cantrell of McMinnville, Catherine McKeown of Smithville, and Edward and his wife Roberta Cantrell of Pelham. Six grandchildren, Tiffany and husband Rob McCandless, Daniel and his wife Lydia Langston, Stephen Cantrell, Jessica McKeown, Stephanie Cantrell, and Elijah Cantrell. Four great grandchildren, Seth, Shelby, Hannah, and Hunter McCandless. Two sisters, Ruby Ballard and Ruth Prinzivalle and two brothers, Frank and Bill Cantrell all of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews and other family and friends also survive. Sisters-in-law, Norma Gunter and Jane Eller both of Smithville, Fatama Walker of McMinnville and brother-in-law Bill and his wife Nina Phillips of Smithville. 85 year old Dewey Lee Love of Smithville died Friday at NHC Healthcare Center. He was a Baptist and he served as Mayor of Smithville from 1986 to 1988. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Don Davidson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. A Masonic service will be held Sunday night at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Era Lawrence Love; his wife Margaret Ducker Love; and brothers, Alfred and Alvie Love. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jim Stapp of Smithville. One nephew, Jason Love of Cookeville. He is also survived by Margaret and Rob Bockoven, Tara and Aaron Bockoven, and Chris and Matthew Cantrell all of Smithville. Special caregiver, Gayra Sanders. 80 year old Viola Schneider Scott of Smithville died Friday at her residence. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, a retired registered nurse, and an employee of Collier Ford. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Dennis Clark will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius Frederick and Meta Roher Schneider. Survivors include three children, Harry Wayne Loveless of Lake Worth, Florida; Lawrence Dale Loveless of Sparta, and Carol Jean Loveless of Chicago, Illinois. 57 year old Nina R. Self of McMinnville died Thursday at her residence. She was a member of the Baptist church and a factory worker. 88 year old Vergia Rebecca Blair of Smithville died Thursday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Ricky Arnold and Reed Arnold will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Levet and Estilla Moser Hubbard; her husband, Calvin Blair; a son, Eugene Blair; two brothers, Alton and Alvis Hubbard; and two sisters, Ophie Moser and Nettie Johnson. Survivors include three children, Dean Turner, Paul and his wife Gail Blair, and Brenda and her husband George Colgan all of Smithville. 69 year old Jerry Clifton Smith, Pastor of the Smithville Church of the Nazarene, died Friday in Mexico. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home. Charles Knight and Ron McCormack, District Superintendent of the Nazarene Church, will officiate and burial will be in the Brush Creek Cemetery. The body will be at DeKalb Funeral Chapel in Smithville on Wednesday where the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The body will be at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home Thursday where the family will receive friends after 11:00 a.m. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sarah Pritchett Smith. Children, Randy “Bubba” Smith and his wife Arlene of Brush Creek, Shane Smith and his wife Amy of Gordonsville, Connie Rodriguez and her husband Ruben of Brush Creek, Sonja Allen and her husband Sam of Coalmont, Debbie Bush and her husband James of Gordonsville, and Linda Pritchett of Smithville.
