Klayton Alan Chapman and Kolton James Chapman

Klayton Alan Chapman age 3 and Stillborn infant, Kolton James Chapman, the sons of Cory and Tiffanie Youngblood Chapman passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident in White County. Klayton and Kolton were preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Judy Youngblood and paternal grandfather, Richard Chapman. In addition to their parents, they are survived by 1 sister, Kayleigh Chapman of Sparta and 1 half-sister, Morgan Hale of Woodbury; paternal grandmother, Connie Dodd of Woodbury; 2 uncles, Tom (Autumn) Vaughn and Chris Vaughn both of Smithville; several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Joint Funeral Services will be conducted 1 PM Friday, December 8, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be given to help with cemetery costs. Visitation with the family will be on Friday 11 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM. Edward Martin

89 year old Edward Martin of Smithville passed away Monday at NHC of Smithville. He was a member of the Center Hill Brethren In Christ and a sewing machine mechanic. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Steffee will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. Martin was preceded in death by his wife Jodie Martin and parents, Tommie and Nancy Lou Martin. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Anthony Burger; two grandchildren, Nancy Burger and Nicole and husband Brandon Gay all of Smithville. Three great grandchildren, Jaxon, Gunner, and Kinslee Gay. One sister, Mallie Harvey of Watertown. Several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Annie Waltyne LaFevor

Annie Waltyne LaFevor age 89, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2017 in Murfreesboro. She was born May 17, 1928, daughter of the late Walton Worthington Lawson and Vada Elizabeth Fuson Lawson of Smithville. Tyne as she was affectionately known, was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James William LaFevor in 2006. They married in 1944 and spent the next 23 years in military deployments during World War II and the Korean War. After retirement in 1966, they made their home in Murfreesboro and were active members of St. Marks’s United Methodist Church. Tyne is survived by her children, James Richard “Jim” LaFevor and his wife, Charlotte of Chattanooga, J. Randall LaFevor and his wife, Holly of Mt. Juliet and Rochelle Northrup and her husband, Vic of Alpharetta, GA; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Andrew and Jenna LaFevor and daughter, Landry, Brooke Weity and sons, Skye, Steve and Codye Garfinkle, Leigh Hinebaugh and children, Andrea, Serenity, Dane and Sean, Jr., Tina Hinebaugh, Jake Northrup and Lucas Northrup; sisters, Nell Hearn Blaylock, Terrellene (Doug) Johnson; sister-in-law, Irene Lawson; brother, Walt Lawson; cousins, Bobbye Davis and Jimmy Davis; nieces and nephews, She was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Hinebaugh; brother, Wayne Lawson and brother-in-law, Lonnie Blaylock. Timothy Dean Adams

Timothy Dean Adams age 59 of Smithville, passed away suddenly Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. He was born May 30, 1958 to his parents, Jack Adams and the late Jessie Davis Flory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Felicia Murphy. He attended high school in Hudson, Michigan, was a U.S. Army Veteran and a truck driver. Survivors include 2 children, Heath Murphy of Alexandria and Kayla Adams of Madison; 6 grandchildren, Katelyn Walz, Carrie and Haley Carroll, Raegan and Jaxson Murphy and Addison Hamilton; father, Jack Adams of Detroit, MI; 2 sisters, Donna Hoffman and Patricia Bryant both of Smithville; 2 brothers, Chris Adams and Jimmy Marr both of Smithville. The family has chosen a cremation. A memorial service will be held 2 PM Friday, December 15, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial of his cremains will be at DeKalb Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. Rita Kaye Franklin

53 year old Rita Kaye Franklin of Smithville passed away Friday at her residence. She was a member of the In Christ United Church and a CNA. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Donnie Kelly will officiate and burial will be in the Keith Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Franklin was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Johnson and Wilo Dean Blair Turner, and a sister Judy Thomason. She is survived by her husband, Richard Franklin; a son, Chris and Jamie Franklin; and a daughter Stacey and Jeremy Bilbrey; seven grandchildren, Destiny Franklin, Jamison Farley Gallatin, Brianna Franklin, Keirstine Robinson, Kaden Robinson, Malakai “Kai” Bilbrey, and Kristian Bilbrey; and an uncle, Paul and Gail Blair all of Smithville. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlene and Gary Goff of Smithville, Keith Franklin and Kenneth and Charlene Franklin of Wyoming, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. Eleanor Snow Burns

Eleanor Snow Burns, age 86, died on Friday, November 24, 2017 of natural causes in her hometown of Smithville, Tennessee. She was born on May 23, 1931, to Robert Lee and Virgie Mangum Snow. Eleanor was one of eleven children: Howard Snow (deceased), Robert Snow (deceased), Wiley Snow (deceased), Carl Snow (deceased), Willie Snow (deceased), Edgar Snow of Knoxville, TN, Frances Snow Poss (deceased), Joanna Snow Moore (deceased), Elizabeth Snow Edwards (deceased) and Mary Snow Morgan of Dayton, OH.
If you could choose one attribute for Eleanor, it was loyalty to her family. Eleanor was also known for her independent spirit, generous heart, and quick wit. She was a fun-loving cheerleader, and a scrappy basketball player in high school. She married the late Hugh Burns of Fayetteville, TN on Christmas Eve, 1955, and they remained happily married until Hugh’s passing in 2003. Eleanor and Hugh met during his employment with the Smithville Review newspaper. The young couple eventually moved to Nashville, where Hugh joined the John H. Harland Company. They moved to Orlando, FL in 1965, and then to Atlanta, GA in 1969. Eleanor and Hugh loved traveling the world; they rode camels by the Great Pyramids, danced through Italy and trekked the Great Wall of China.
Eleanor was a proud and an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and The Mayflower Society, tracing her father’s Snow family lineage to the Stephen Hopkins family of Plymouth Colony in 1620. She was also an accomplished amateur artist, and her paintings adorn the homes and offices of many of her extended family.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Terrence Burns and his wife Daniela of Atlanta, and her granddaughter Anna Burns and her husband Bryce Evans of Los Angeles.
Pallbearers are Dwayne Snow (nephew), Ed Snow (nephew), Jeff Morgan (nephew), Jerry Poss (nephew), Harry Poss (nephew), Ryan Magness (grandnephew), Buzz Ruffin (nephew-in-law) and Robin Treadway (nephew-in-law). Honorary pallbearers are her beloved nieces and nephews, some of whom she named, helped raise and all of whom she loved like her own all of her life.
Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Wednesday, November 29th, and services at 1pm on Thursday, November 30th, at the Love Cantrell Funeral Home, 100 E Church Street, Smithville TN 37166.

Lois Walker

Lois Walker age 74 of Smithville, passed away Sunday morning, November 26, 2017 at Tri-Star Skyline in Madison. She was born March 31, to her parents, the late T.J. and Alene Murphy Bandy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Bandy and 3 grandchildren. Lois was a member of the Smithville Church of Christ, a former nursery worker and retail worker. She retired and became a loving housewife and homemaker, mother and grandmother to all. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Douglas Walker of Smithville; 3 children, Eddie (Phyllis) Walker, Jeanette (Kenneth) Neal and Steve (Felicia) Walker all of Smithville; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren in addition to many nieces, nephews and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Dan Gulley officiating and burial will follow in Cantrell Cemetery. Ruth Louise Winchester

73 year old Ruth Louise Winchester of Smithville passed away Wednesday at her residence. She was a Pentecostal and a retired seamstress. The funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Donnie Kelly and Curtis Young will officiate and burial will be in the Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Ruby Bogle Hale; two husbands, James Winchester and Wayne Winchester; and a brother, Ray Donald Hale. Survivors include six children, Michelle and Tim Lord of Missouri, Jeff and Meresa Winchester, Ernie and Vanessa Winchester, Jan Winchester, Jason and Jennifer Winchester, and Jennifer and Kevin Agee all of Smithville. Fourteen grandchildren, Amber and Ashley Lord, J.J. and Amanda Winchester, Tiffany and Heath Robinson, Jacob Winchester, Nicholas and Quincie Winchester, Maci Arnold, Justin Keri, and Lucas Winchester, and Nikolas, Briona, and Cali Agee. Dean Johnson Estes

Dean Johnson Estes was born November 3, 1923 in Lebanon to her parents, the late William George and Lillie Lora Shepherd Johnson and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, November 21, 2017 at the Pavilion in Lebanon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Billy Lewis Estes, Sr.; her 2 sons, Billy Lewis Estes, Jr. and Donald Johnson Estes; 2 grandsons, Marshall Hunter Estes and Jasen Travis Estes; 4 brothers, James Douglas Johnson, Perry Huffman Johnson, Howard Milton Johnson and William Glenn Johnson; 2 brothers-in-law, Lester Albert and Raymond Thorne; sister-in-law, Sue Bass Johnson; her father and mother-in-law, Herman Lewis and Gerda Faye Estes; brother-in-law, Glen Estes, Sr.; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jean and Howard Arrington. Ms. Dean was a resident of Smithville for 75 years, she moved to Lebanon on the death of her son, Billy, Jr. to live with her grandson Trey and family. She and her husband owned and operated Estes Shoe Store in Smithville for many years, she also served as DeKalb County Circuit Court Clerk, secretary at WJLE for over 15 years and retired from Union Planters Bank. During the war while her husband was in the Army, she worked as time clerk at Milton TN Shell Loading Plant. She was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church and attended the Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Funeral services honoring Ms. Dean’s life will be conducted 1:30 PM Saturday, November 25, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Kevin Medlin officiating and there will be a private interment held. Visitation with the family will be Saturday 11:30 AM until the time of the service at 1:30PM. Sue Dexter Beshearse age 75 of Dowelltown passed away Tuesday morning, November 21, 2017 at her daughter’s residence. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Irene Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, AW Beshearse; 2 children, Gary and Delisa Dexter; 2 brothers, WH Webb and Ray Donald Webb. Sue was a faithful member of the Whorton Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by 1 daughter, Tina (James) Boston of Dowelltown; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Bain of Dowelltown, Andy (Shelby) Bain of Monterey, Dakota Dexter of Nashville and Savanah Dexter of Cookeville; 2 great-grandchildren, Natalya McCarty of Dowelltown and Sylas Bain of Monterey; 2 sisters, Gail (Doyle) Slager of Dowelltown and Patty (Eddie) Malone of Smithville; sister-in-law, Betty Webb of Smithville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
