Elder Howard E. Hooper

Elder Howard E. Hooper age 86 of Rock Island, TN, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 14, 2015, with family by his side at home. He was born September 07, 1929, in DeKalb County, TN, retired after a 29 year career with Century Electric, was ordained as a The Baptist minister in 1962 and pastored Pilgram, Newtown, Mt. View, Spring Hill, New Hope, Spring Creek, and Spring Street The Baptist Churches. Brother Hooper was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Hassie Young, daughter Rhonda Hooper, a son Billy Hooper, and a brother Aaron Hooper.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Alma Ruth Cannon Hooper, daughters Kathy (Norman) Atnip and Donna Hooper, grandchildren Monica and Brian Newsome, Lynn and James Jones, Leslie Reynolds, Jerimey and Dana Apple, Jamie and Sam Copley, Jason Apple, and Mandy May, great-grandchildren Jacob Ballew, Ashley Ballew, Skyland Beecham, Sophia Ashburn, Christopher Apple, Aaron and Lauren Duggin, Rosa Alvarado, Conner Jernigan, Peyton Potvin, Cheyenne Newsome, Harley Newsome, Tori Reynolds, Jem Reynolds, Kloe Reynolds, John Reynolds, Matthew West, Tinsley West, Clayton Jones, Kelsey and Tillman West, sister Jimmie Johnson, and sister-in-law Lucille Hooper.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Newtown The Baptist Church. Elder James Wright and Elder Cody Holman will officiate. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The Hooper Family will receive friends Thursday from 3 P.M. until 9 P.M. and Friday from 11 A.M. until 9 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. On Saturday visitation will be at Newtown The Baptist Church, 2330 Shelbyville Rd., McMinnville, TN 37110. The church phone number is 931-668-2300. Charles Landon Martin

Charles Landon Martin, age 75, of New Palestine, Indiana went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Community Hospital East. He was born on December 31, 1939 in DeKalb County, TN as the son of Dewey and Nina (Dale) Martin. He graduated from Liberty High School. Charles married Helen (Crawford) on September 20, 1957 in DeKalb County, TN.
He worked for Ford for 42 years before retiring in 2002. Mr. Martin was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was devoted to God, his family, grandchildren and his church.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Helen Martin of New Palestine; daughters, Teresa (Robert) Stout and Patricia (Jerry) Duncan both of New Palestine; five grandchildren, James Stout, Katrina Held, Andrew Stout, Chad Duncan and Maci Duncan; six great-grandchildren, Kimber, Jake, Josh, Alison, Aubrie and Natalie; sisters, Marie Stephens of Chattanooga, TN and Helen Swan of Lenoir City, TN; and brother, Royce Martin of Smithville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Nina (Dale) Martin; three sisters; and one brother.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until
8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at
10:00 a.m., also at the mortuary. Pastor Roger Kinion will be officiating.
Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.

Rickey was preceded in death by 1 daughter-in-law, Kim Curtis DeVault; 4 brothers, Tony DeVault, Larry Ferrell, Gary Ferrell and Charles Ferrell. He is survived by 4 children, Mackie (Shannon) Pollard of Hickman, Johnny DeVault of Smithville, Carrie (Ryan) Lyons of Smithville and Samantha DeVault of Smithville; 1 step-daughter, Marina Cornette of Smithville; 13 grandchildren; mother, Opal Atnip of Smithville; father, Mack (Louise) Harris of Spring City; 5 brothers, Scott Ferrell, Terry Ferrell, Chris Ferrell and Jeff Ferrell all of Smithville and Wayne Ferrell of Manchester. She was born August 20, 1930 to her parents, the late Hubert Aaron and Maggie Mae Messic Cantrell. Inaddition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Gentry Ed Cantrell and Bill Priest; 2 sons, Eddie “Buck” Cantrell and Rickey Lynn Cantrell; two brothers, Herbert Cantrell, Jr. and J.M. Cantrell; 1 grandson, Terry Layne Cantrell. Mary was a Methodist and a homemaker. Survivors include 2 daughters, Peggy (Phillip) Stewart of Smithville and Barbara Farmer of Smyrna; 7 grandchildren, Sundi Blanchard, Salana Letsinger, Brian (Cindy) Young, Joe (Tina) Young, Letitia Cantrell Jones, Zeek Cantrell, Brooke Cantrell; 3 great-grandchildren, Alanna (Brandon) Jones, Spencer Letsinger, Brittany Letsinger; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Brandon Jones, III, Addison Jones; 1 sister, Bessie Delene Webb of Smithville; 1 special nephew, Kyle Cantrell; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jean Cantrell, Lillian (Brownie) Tittsworth, Louise Cantrell and Ruth Cantrell all of Smithville, Lois (J.E.) Katherine Saddler age 68 of the Prosperity Community, died Friday morning, Oct. 9, 2015 at her residence. She was born Aug. 18, 1947 in Woodbury, TN, daughter of the late Wiley Grey Melton and Leona Bell Melton and was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Morris and brothers, John and Bobby Melton. Katherine was a member of Prosperity Baptist Church and a graduate of Auburntown High School. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dwight Saddler; sons, Eric (Beth) Saddler and Jared (Nikki) Saddler; grandchildren, Evan and Ella Saddler, Izabella, Lexie, Jake and Jack Saddler all of Auburntown; sister, Patsy Reeder of Watertown; nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015 at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown with Bro. Thurman Seber and Bro. David Moody officiating. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. till service time Sunday. Interment at Prosperity Cemetery.

Ms. Anna Ruth Barnes age 88 of McMinnville passed away Thursday afternoon, October 8, 2015 at her residence. She was born August 22, 1927 to her parents, the late Taylor and Ella West Russell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.B. Barnes, 2 sons, Leverne Barnes and Twain Barnes; sister, Louvella Jones; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leon and Ann Barnes. Ms. Anna Ruth was a faithful member of Mt. Hope The Baptist Church of Christ and was retired from Century/Magnetek. Survivors include 1 daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Billy Ross Rankhorn of McMinnville; 1 daughter-in-law, Janis Stewart Barnes of McMinnville; 2 grandchildren, Jonathan Stewart Barnes and Ashley Chantell (Corey) Kennedy; 1 great-granddaughter, Anna Lynn Kennedy; 2 brothers, Gene (Mava) Russell and Tom (Audrey) Russell both of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews also survive.
