89 year old B.L. Raymond of Smithville died Saturday at his residence. He was a member of the Mount Hope The Baptist Church for more than 60 years. He was a member of the Army 101st Airborne, 907 Glider Field Artillery Battalion, World World II Veteran, and he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also owner of Raymond and Sons Nursery. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dwight Knowles and Garry McBride will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Watson and Letha Cleo Young Raymond; a sister, Judy Raymond; and a daughter-in-law, Nell Raymond. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen West Raymond. One son, Earl Raymond of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Brian and wife Kristin Raymond of Lexington, Kentucky and Adam and wife Amy Raymond of Smithville. Seven great grandchildren, Thomas and Brianna Raymond of Kentucky, Aniston and Alexis Raymond, Anna Bullard, and Julia Little all of Smithville and Allison and Brent Collier of Cookeville. One great great grandchild, Sebastian Bullard of Smithville. A sister, Janie Love of Smithville. Special family members, Kristy, Ty, and Nate Wakefield and Ogden Melton. Sister-in-law, JoAnn and Clyde Smithson of McMinnville. Brother-in-law, Freddie Pirtle of Woodbury. A host of other family, church family, and neighbors also survive. Joshua Tyler Davis

25 year old Joshua Tyler Davis of Sparta (Johnson Chapel Community) died Saturday at Highland Medical Center in Sparta. He was a member of the Johnson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Elmore Judd and Tim Judd will officiate and burial will be in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Davis was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Lee Davis; an uncle, Bobby Rice; and his paternal grandparents, Leonna and Norman Davis. Survivors include his parents, Jimmy “Hammer” and Connie Davis; maternal grandparents, Bob and Ruth Rice; four uncles, Jack and wife Mary Davis, Kenneth and wife Shawn Rice, Terry Rice, and Les and wife Regina Davis; and one aunt, Tootsie Taylor all of Sparta. Nora Mae Pinegar

94 year old Nora Mae Pinegar of Walling died Friday afternoon at her residence.
Ms. Pinegar was born in Monroe County, Kentucky to the late George Hale and Mary Cuningham Howard. She was a factory worker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands William Franklin Golden, Billy Lackey and Ray Pinegar. Brothers and sisters who preceded her death were Elmo H. Howard, Minnie L. Happy, Willie Ed Howard, Alla H. Wilson, Anna L. Roberts, Mary Esther Howard and Mary G. Cooper.
She is survived by two daughters Norma and husband David Young of Walling, and Jean and husband Johnny King of Walling.
Two sons Willie Bethel and wife Linda Golden of Smithville and Billy and wife Carolyn Lackey of Smithville.
Two sisters: Doris J. Bushman Lake Village, Indiana and Edna T. Terry Shelby, Indiana.

Dr. Scott Wheeler

42 year old Dr. Scott Wheeler of Smithville, owner and operator of Wheeler Veterinary Clinic, died Friday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of the AVMA. The funeral will be Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Green will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 12:30 p.m. Dr. Wheeler was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, T.C. Wheeler and Marie Fuson and maternal grandparents, J.P. and Elizabeth Sullivan. He is survived by his wife of fourteen years, Kim Wheeler; two children, Robert and David Wheeler all of Smithville; parents, Marvin and Leslie Wheeler of Auburntown and Linda and Jeff Cook of Smithville. One brother, Stacey Wheeler of Auburntown. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 59 year old Michael Dewayne Stoglin of Smithville died Tuesday at his residence. Michael was preceded in death by his Father, Kenneth Stoglin. He was a Freewill Baptist and a machine mechanic. Michael is survived by 3 Children; Mother, Bonnie Summers of Smithville; 3 Brothers, Johnny Stoglin of Smithville, Ronnie (Veronica) Stoglin of Chattanooga, Randy (Tammy) Summers of Smithville; Sister, Dianne (Dewayne) Allen of Cookeville; Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Saturday, December 28, 2013 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with Bros. Danny Bandy and Michael Hale officiating. 64 year old Norma Ruth Temple died Saturday at NHC of Smithville. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and a retired bank clerk. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. B.J. Thomason will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollo and Stella Noddin O’Neil. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Richard Temple of Smithville. Three children, Kelly and husband Mike Lawson of Murfreesboro, Cheryl Temple of Bloomfield, New Jersey and Raymond Temple of Antioch. Four grandchildren, Courtney, Morgan, Emily, and Michael Lawson all of Murfreesboro. Two sisters, Mavis and husband Mike Heinlien of El Dorado, California and Audrey and husband Harry Nunes of Walpole, Massachusetts. Four nieces and nephews, Yvonne and husband Ray Frederickson of New Hampshire, Kenny Nunes of North Carolina, and Blake and Bryce Heinlien of California.
