81 year old Edith Young Evans of Smithville died Friday morning at her residence. She was a retired shirt factory worker and a member of the New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Ricky Arnold will officiate and burial will be in the New Bildad Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Waymon and Julie Ann Redmond Young; her husband, James F. Evans; and brothers, Charlie, Felix, Winfred, and James Edd Young. Survivors include three sons, Phillip and wife Linda Evans of Smithville, Michael Evans of Smithville, and Jerry and wife Donna Evans of McMinnville. Two grandsons, Jason and wife Sharon Evans and Timothy and wife Charlotte Evans. Two great grandchildren, Wade and Sylvia. Two step-grandchildren, Charles Shannon Adcock and Amanda Arnold Henry. Step- great grandchildren, Ryan Carter, Ethan Carter, and Mackenzie Henry. Sisters, Lillie Lawson and Ethel and husband Ralph Arnold of Smithville, and Mary Bell Robinson of McMinnville. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in memory of Ms. Edith. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
