102 year old Ethel Keith Ashford of Smithville died Saturday at the Webb House Retirement Center. She was a 60 year member of the Eastern Star, having joined in 1955. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a 48 year member of the Smithville Business and Professional Women’s Club. Ashford was a homemaker and a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Keith and her second husband, Willie Brown Ashford; parents, Dennis and Julie Ann Arnold Tramel; three brothers, Ernest, Haskel, and Walter and James Tramel. Six sisters, Nancy Nokes, Beatrice Bryant, Velma Reeves, Elrissa Whitlock, Myrtle Smith, and Lena Vann. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Ann and husband Joe Don Parkerson of Watertown. Two sons, Wayne Keith of Florida and Randall and wife Brenda Keith of Lebanon. Seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. One brother, Reverend Dennis Calvin Tramel of Smithville and a sister, Ruby Deal of Nashville. The family would like to send a special thanks to the owners and staff of the Webb House for the care and compassion given to Ms. Ashford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lighthouse Christian Camp or to the Gideons. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
