76 year old Floyd Nokes of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC of Smithville. He was self-employed, a U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of the New Bildad Primitive Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Ricky Arnold will officiate and burial will be in the New Bildad Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. Nokes was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Hallie Mai O’Conner Nokes; his wife, Ruby Nokes; five brothers, Walter, Johnny, Sam, Bill, and Bob Nokes; and a sister, Betty Bogle. Survivors include nieces and nephews, Thomas and Annie Bogle of Liberty, Lucion and Mary Nokes of Temperance Hall, Brenda and Thurman Bennett of Lebanon, Marie and Kenneth Derting of Liberty, Elsie and Ray Fish of Statesville, Anita Thornton of Smyrna, Jimmy and Debbie Nokes of Sweetwater, Lisa and Dwayne Bowen of Smithville, and Diane Nokes of Washington, D.C.. Special friend and companion, Jean Goodwin of Smithville. Sister-in-law, Moe Dean Nokes of Sweetwater and a dear special little friend Bentley “Spud” Whatley of Liberty.
