74 year old Fred Gordon Maynard of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Clarks Chapel. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. David Gann will officiate and burial will be in the Young Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.. He was preceded in death by parents, Thurston and Mona Lee Maynard; a son, Terry Maynard; a brother, George Maynard, and two sisters, Ella Cox and Lovida Smith. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hattie Dell Maynard of Smithville. Three daughters, Evia Cooper of Sparta, Patricia Farler of Liberty, and Cyrethia and husband Michael Stephens of Chattanooga. Two sons, Jerry and wife Tammy Maynard of Smithville and Michael and wife Nancy Maynard of Sparta. Eleven grandchildren, Keith Farler and Danielle Farler of Dowelltown, Mica Stephens and Joshua Stephens of Chattanooga, Carrie Cooper of Sparta, Craig Cooper, Tristan Burgess, John Maynard, Jacob Maynard, Avarie Maynard, and Keylee Maynard of Smithville. Six great grandchildren. One brother, L.T. Maynard of Smithville. One sister, Martha Fisher of McMinnville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
