77 year old Gairett Hobert Bratten, Jr. of Dowelltown died Sunday at his residence. He was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church, a retired mechanic, and a U.S. Army Veteran. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Matthew Long and Perry Clayton will officiate and burial will be in the Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gairett and Edith Lawrence Bratten, Sr.; his ex wife, Ina Ruth Ruthford; a brother, Robert Bratten; and a sister, Dorothy Danner. Survivors include children, Timmy and his wife Shirley Bratten of Michigan, Connie and her husband Gasper Long of Dowelltown, and Jeff and his wife Janice Bratten of Knoxville. Grandchildren, Ashley Long, Skyler Bratten, Linda Long, Julie Bratten, Janna Bratten, Matthew Bratten, Christopher Bratten, Christina Bratten, Jeff Bratten, Kilie Bratten, Kole Bratten, Catilina Espinoza, and Isabella Espinoza. Very close friend, Grant Williams. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
