63 year old Gary Wayne Cripps of Mount Juliet died Thursday at the Nashville V.A Hospital. He was born in DeKalb County. Cripps was also a Baptist, a graduate of DeKalb County High School, and a U.S. Army Disabled Veteran. Cripps served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Silver Star, Medal of Valor, and Purple Heart. He was active in the Donelson Civitan Club, Donelson Girls Softball Program, and the American Legion and V.F.W.. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Jerald Cripps and Kenneth Clayton will officiate and burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and prior to the service on Sunday. Cripps was preceded in death by his father, Carl Cripps. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Spence Cripps of Mount Juilet. A daughter, Angela Royalty of Lebanon. A grandson, Brody Royalty. His mother, Willie Jim Cripps of Dowelltown. Brothers, Jerald Cripps and wife Lisa of Liberty and Dwight Cripps of Dowelltown. A sister-in-law, Pat Marshall and husband Wayne of Cane Ridge. Nieces, Amy Raymond and Rosie Pollard. Nephews, Matt and wife Melody Cripps, Jordan and wife Nicole Cripps, and Justin Cripps. Great nieces, Kendall and Addie Vertigo and Savannah Pollard and a great nephew, Jackson Pollard. Memorials may be made to the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, in lieu of flowers. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements.
