75 year old James Lloyd Selby of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a job setter with General Motors for 32 years. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the New Life United Pentecostal Church, where he was a member. Dwayne Cornelius will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:00 a.m. at the New Life United Pentecostal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Beulah England Selby; three sisters, Louise Smith, Elizabeth Smith, and Helen Baker; and two brothers, C.B. Noel Selby and Gene Selby. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marianna Selby of Smithville. Four daughters, Sheryl Shadowens of Florida, Sandra Selby of Smithville, Belinda Stratton of Rock Island, and Shannon and husband Earnest Nichols of Smithville. Five grandchildren, James Shadowens, Vanessa Mosier, Heather Theodore, Jesse Theodore, and Ashlee Nichols. Two great grandchildren, Alexia Shadowens and Mia Mosier. One brother, Robert and wife Wanda Selby of Monterey. Many nieces and nephews also survive along with his church family at the New Life United Pentecostal Church. The family asks that donations be made to the New Life United Pentecostal Church for the building fund, in lieu of flowers. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
