81 year old James Mason Adcock of Smithville died Sunday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was retired from the Chrysler Corporation. He was also a logger with Adcock Logging Company and a member of the Mount Hope The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Tim Bennett, Dwight Knowles, and Johnny Adcock will officiate and burial will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Odus and Bessie Young Adcock; a son, Calvin Adcock; and three daughters, Janice, Deborah, and Patricia Adcock. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Judkins Adcock; a daughter, Kathy and her husband Steve Merz; and a son, Lee Adcock. Five grandchildren, Stephanie Adcock Johnson, Mason Adcock Brandt, Daniel Adcock Brant, Ashley Brandt, and Quinton Adcock. Four great grandchildren, Makira, Emma, Aspen, and Carmon Johnson. One sister, Katie Adcock. Four brothers, Ray Adcock, Franklin and wife Faye Adcock, Mitchell and wife Imogene Adcock, and Albert and wife Christine Adcock all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked that donations please be made to the funeral home to help with burial expenses, in lieu of flowers.
