52 year old Jena Matthews Hesson of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a housewife. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Robert Page and Richard Franklin will officiate and burial will be in the Cannady Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hesson, Sr.; her parents, William Junior Matthews and Betty Frances Davis Murphy; a daughter, Martha Sue Caldwell; grandchildren, Bobby Eric, Glendon Derrick, and Christian Hesson,and Jena Coronado; and sisters, Martha Todd and Patricia Ann Shoemake. Survivors include three children, April and her husband Martin Coronado, James Hesson, and David, Jr. and his wife Kathey Hesson all of Smithville. Brothers, James, Willie, William, and Roy Matthews, Randall Neal, and Doug and Terry Murphy all of Smithville. Sisters, Brenda Taylor, Helen Ervin, and Kathy Murphy of Smithville, and Pamela Hooten of South Carolina. The family has requested that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, in lieu of flowers. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
