28 year old Jerry Lee Estes of Dowelltown died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Penecost and a self-employed tree trimmer. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Glenn Chapman will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Ararat Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Alvie Estes and Ray Murphy. He is survived by children, Austin and Allison Estes, Destiny and Monie Murphy; his father and step-mother, Jerry “Frog” and Tammy Estes; his mother, Darlene Griffith Jackson; step-dad, Maurice Griffith; brothers, Matthew and Billy Griffith; grandparents, Dixie Estes and Cleta Horn; and lots of special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses, in lieu of flowers.
