69 year old Jerry Monroe Strickland, Sr. of Alexandria died Thursday at Riverview Medical Center at Carthage. He was a Machinist for TVA, a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a member of the New Middleton Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home. Chris Blair will officiate and burial will be in the Brush Creek Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service. He was preceded in death by his father, Jewell Cornelius Strickland; and an infant son, Danny. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Doris Strickland of Alexandria. Children, Sharon Strickland and Jerry Strickland, Jr. both of Alexandria and Jason and wife Julie Strickland of Hendersonville. Grandchildren, Kristen Strickland and Jessie Strickland both of Alexandria, Skyler Strickland, Peyton Strickland, and Riley Strickland all of Hendersonville. His mother, Ruby Loudine Thompson of Hendersonville. Three sisters, Margaret and husband Ferrell Carmen of Hartsville, Debbie Loudermilk and Trisha and husband Dave Lemarbe both of Hendersonville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.
