76 year old Jimmy McDonald Martin of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Baptist and he served in the U.S. Army. Martin was retired from the City of Smithville and was a lab tech at DeKalb and Stones River Hospitals. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Mike Clayborn will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 10:00 a.m. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, William Floyd and Miltada Mai Clayborn Martin and two brothers, Dawes and James Martin. Survivors include a daughter, Penny Martin of Smithville. Two sons, Tim and wife Faye Martin and Greg Martin all of Smithville. Seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
