75 year old Juanita Bates of Smithville died Sunday at her residence. She was retired from Mallaries Timers in Sparta and a member of the Brethren In Christ. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. John David Wilson will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.; Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.; and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Velma Clemens Johnson; her husband, Lee Homer Bates; children, Wanda Kay Pack, Sharon Ann Whitworth, Sandra Bates, and Donald Bates. Survivors include four daughters, Thelma and her husband Bobby (Stub) Martin of Smithville, Janet Hawker of Smithville, Peggy Colwell of Sparta and Louise Arnold of Smithville. Four sons, Tony Bates, Kenny and his wife Maria Bates, Wayne and his wife Vickie Bates all of Smithville and Eddie Carmel and his wife Dorothy Johnson of McMinnville. Grandchildren, Misty Martin, Christopher Martin, Brandon and Braxton White, Megan Hawker, Jennifer Judkins, Matt Bates, John, Amanda, Nathan, Emily, and Joey Bates, Angel Burrage, Junior and Jimmy Johnson, Jennia Poss, and Stuart Colwell, Bobby Jo Ann Pack, Lee and Andy Pack, Donnie Barnes, and Renee Gilman. One brother, Kenneth and his wife Betty Johnson of Rock Island. Two sisters, Trixie Linder of Indiana and Mai Griffin of Sparta. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
