29 year old Larry Eugene Rhoady, Jr. of Smithville died Monday at his residence. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran, having served in Iraq. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Gath Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Beverly Duffee. Survivors include two children, Austin Rhoady of Peatone, Illinois and Lila Kate Rhoady of Georgia. His mother, Maureen Mercer and her husband Steve of Sawyer, Michigan. His father, Larry Eugene, Sr. and his wife, Michelle Rhoady of Smithville. Sisters and brothers, Melissa Nicole Rhoady of Smithville, Jacob Rhoady, and Jenna Kate Rhoady both of Indiana, Nicholas Mercer, Kacie Mercer, and Benjamin Mercer all of Sawyer, Michigan. Step-brothers and step-sisters, Kristy Barber of Steger, Illinois, Curtis Lloyd and Tamra Lloyd both of Smithville, and James Randolph of McMinnville. Paternal grandparents, Boyd and Maxine Rhoady of Smithville. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
