75 year old Lura Jean Reeder of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Baptist and a retired shirt factory worker. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bernard Houk will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until the service at 3:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Reeder, Sr.; her parents, Sheely and Julie May Williams Shehane; seven children, Johnny Lane Reeder, James Edward Reeder, Ricky Glen Reeder, Janice Ann Johnson, Timmy Joe Reeder, David Lynn Reeder, and Dennis Lee Reeder; six brothers, Robert, Hoyt, Toy, Ben, Maxie, and Frank Shehane; and a sister, Wilene Saylors. Survivors include four sons, Allen “Bug” Reeder, Jr, Tony Reeder and Steve Reeder all of Smithville, and Jerry Reeder of Arizona. Three daughters, Sue and husband Eudean Wheeler of Smithville, Peggy and husband Dan Parks of New Hampshire, and Lisa Vice of Louisiana. Fifteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Five sisters, Jessie Belle Johnson, May and husband James Lattimore, Mary Lattimore, Frances and husband Harlan Bates, Alma and husband Doug Swafford all of Smithville. Special friends, Marilyn Caldwell, Ruth Cantrell, and Shelby Davis all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
