92 year old Martha Bell Spencer of Dowelltown died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a member of the Dowelltown United Methodist Church and a homemaker. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Matthew Long will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Spencer was preceded in death by husbands, John E. Young and Vaskell Spencer; her parents, James E. and Vinnie Redmon; sons, Larry Joe Young, John E. Young, Jr. and an infant son; step-daughters, Ms. Jimmie Vickers and Jewel Medley; and a step-grandson, Gary Vickers. She is survived by her children, Retha Nell and husband Billy Braswell of Dowelltown and Dixie Faye Greer of Smithville. Grandchildren, Susan Reynolds, Stephen Braswell, Rebecca Thomas, Jo Ann Davis, Janie England, Angela Trapp, Richard Redmon, Joey Young, Brian Young, and Salana Letsinger. Step-grandchildren, Nelson Gilreath, Terry Anderson, and Katrina Vickers. Half-sisters, Hazel Taylor, Mildred Hogan, and Julia Lord of Georgia. A half-brother, Charles Redmon of Sparta. Special cousin, Ella Mai Jones. Twenty great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
