66 year old Marvin Lee Pittard of Smithville died Friday at his residence. He was a farmer, an employee of Southeastern Tire., and a member of the Covenant Baptist Church. The funeral will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Hale Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. Pittard was preceded in death by his parents, James Pittard and Hassie Taylor Pittard; a son, Melvin Pittard; a grandson, James Lee Pittard, Jr.; siblings, Ray Pittard, James Pittard, Hattie Crouch, Mary Lou Robinson, and Paulene Robinson. Survivors include his wife, Anette Pittard of Smithville. Children, Kathy Johnson of Smithville, Angela Pittard, and Jonathan Ferrell of Smithville, Jessie and Junior Mashburn of Smithville, Toby and Loretta Pittard of Woodbury. Ten grandchildren, Mark Johnson and Kayla Conners, Mary Johnson, and Jamie Barrett, Fairy Johnson and Ray Mashburn, Jessica Lane and Lonnie Brown, Jeremy Lane, Lori Lee Pittard, and Bradley and Lindsey Barrett. Eleven great grandchildren, Brooklyn Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Kimberly Johnson, Tiffany Johnson, Justin Johnson, Brian Johnson, Christopher Johnson, Alyssa Mashburn, Jayden McCown, Weslie McCown, Chasity Barrett, Ashley and Jordan Barrett. Four sisters, Judy Towel of Murfreesboro, Shirley and Nick Nickalson of Christiana, Betty Flemings of Murfreesboro, Ella Mae Pittard of Murfreesboro. Two brothers, Charles and Becky Pittard of Murfreesboro and Bobby and Melissa Pittard of Shop Springs. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked that donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses, in lieu of flowers.
