Melvin Hoyt Poss

71 year old Melvin Hoyt Poss of McMinnville died Thursday at River Park Hospital in McMinnville. He was born in DeKalb County, owner of Melvin Poss Construction Company, and a member of the Newtown The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at noon at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Greg Hibdon and Elder Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will follow at Mount View Cemetery in DeKalb County. The Poss family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until noon at McMinnville Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Carmean Cantrell Poss; his son, David Poss; and three infant siblings. Survivors include his wife, Jimmye Poss of McMinnville. A son, Allen Poss of McMinnville. Three daughters, Brenda and husband Rickey Patrick, Kimberly and husband George Hunt all of McMinnville, and Bridget Poss of Murfreesboro. Sisters, Opal and husband Lewis Land, Elizabeth and husband Nathan Reagan, Janey and husband Lewis Young, and Donna Hale all of McMinnville. Brothers, Reed Poss and Harold and wife Diane Poss all of McMinnville. Grandchildren, Jason and LeAnn Patrick, Elisha, Sophia, and Cecilia Hunt. Great grandchildren, Tyler and Logan Patrick and special great niece, Cora Lee. Several nieces and nephews also survive. McMinnville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
