85 year old Mildred Louise Vickers of Smithville died Sunday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. She was a retired DeKalb County school teacher, a Methodist, a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the WAVES as a Navy Reserve in World War II. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Noah David Britton, Sr. and Mabel Blakley Britton; her husband Clarence Vickers; a daughter, Elaine Allen; a grandson, James David Dye; a sister, Bobbye Price; and a brother, Noah Britton, Jr. She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Gilreath of Smithville and Marsha Penrod of Kentucky. One son, Britt Vickers of Smithville. A step- daughter, Susan Slay. Four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
