66 year old Phillip Lee George of Smithville died Saturday morning at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was a Veteran of the United States Marines who served in the Vietnam War. He was a Seventh Day Adventist and had 20 years of service with the Metro Nashville Parks and Recreations. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dennis Clark will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be Monday from 3-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis B. and Billie Sue McDowell George; grandparents, Aubrey and Mattie Braswell George; nephew, Matthew George; father and mother-in-law, Gilbert and Mitchel Walden; and three brothers-in-law, Kenneth, James, and Robert Harold (Bob) Walden. He is survived by his wife, Mary Susan George of Smithville. A son, Lewis Gilbert and wife Lidia George. Special son, Jeremy Allen. Brother, Gary and wife Lois George of Indiana and twin brother, Bill and wife Janice George of Mount Juliet. Four sisters-in-law, Helen and husband Wayne Cripps of Alexandria, Carolyn Walden of Alexandria, Marie Walden of Smithville, and Jackie Walden of Michigan. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Special friends, Tommy and Maria Clayborn, Kenneth, Jeremy, and Jason Neal and Rex Fathera. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
