70 year old Ralph Alexander Dawes of Smithville died Saturday at his residence. He was a Baptist, a Mason, Shriner, a Scottish Rite, and member of Liberty Lodge #77. He was also a control mechanic with Dupont. A Masonic service will be Monday night at 6:30. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bill Robertson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.; Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Tuesday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Dawes was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph Dawes; his mother, Daisey Cothron Dawes; and a brother, Ray Dawes. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Frances Brawner Dawes of Smithville. Two sons, Timothy Wayne and wife Jennifer Dawes of Hendersonville and Ralph Alex and wife Leslie Dawes of Gallatin. Four grandchildren, Ashlie Scarlata, Wendi Dawes, Joshua Dawes, and Courtney Dawes. Two great grandchildren, Jordan and Kevin Scarlata. One brother, Harold Dean Dawes of Smithville. Four sisters, Betty Minchey, Ruth Davis, Judy Coley, and Kay Sadler all of Lafayette. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
