69 year old Robert Don Malone of Hannahs Branch Road, Liberty died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was born in DeKalb County, the son of the late Elva Ray Parkerson and Harvey Braxton Malone. A brother, Roy Lee Malone and a sister, Frances Moss preceded him in death. He worked in construction and retired from McPherson and Shaw Construction. Malone was a director on the DeKalb Telephone Cooperative board, having been re-elected to a third term in September, representing the Temperance Hall exchange. He was a longtime member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church where he served as song leader. Malone is survived by his wife of 50 years, Loretta Hawker Malone. Two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Terry Malone of Liberty and David and Genia Malone of Gordonsville. Four grandchildren, Benjamin, John, Anna, and Carey Malone. A brother, Billy and his wife Betty Jean Malone. Sisters, Jimmy and her husband David Carter and Debbie and her husband Danny Bishop. The body is at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria where the funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Matthew Long will officiate and burial will be in the Pisgah Church Cemetery. The Malone family will receive friends at Avant Chapel on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Pisgah Church Cemetery Care Fund.
