Robert Gerald Smith

67 year old Robert Gerald Smith of Dowelltown died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital after a sudden illness. He was a native of Lawrence County, retired from the music industry, an Army veteran, and of the Methodist faith. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Loretto Memorial Chapel. Steve Vanhooser will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Loretto Memorial Chapel. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Smith. Survivors include his mother, Georgia Smith of Loretto. A son, Robert Smith and his wife Kandice of Mount Juliet. Three daughters, Tracy Lynn Simpson and husband Greg of Ethridge, Christy Delaine Dietz and husband Gary of Lavergne, and Shasta Nicole Smith of Clearwater, Florida. Four granddaughters, Logan Dietz, Taylor Dietz, Devin Smith, and Morgan Smith. One nephew, Chris Brown and wife Dee Dee of Loretto and a sister, Jenny Brown and husband Milton of Loretto.
