73 year old Ruby Nell Thomas of Smithville died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Home Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, Willie “Sarge” Grady Thomas; parents, Julius and Vinnie Caldwell Reeder; a son, Gabby Thomas; grandchildren, Patrick Thomas and Shaina Matthews; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children, Judy and husband Doyle Hale of Smithville, David “Doc” and wife Caprece Thomas of McMinnville, and Debbie and husband Roy Matthews of Smithville. Grandchildren, Corey Thomas, Brandon Thomas, Michael Thomas, Kimberly Ward, Kaylee Hale, Jennifer Kirby, Kristy Thomas, Ethan Matthews, and Caleb Matthews. A brother, Melvin Reeder of Smithville. Sisters, Hazel Bowman of Carthage, Susie Vandergriff of Smithville, and Sally Tims of Cookeville. The family has asked that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
