Ms. Ruth Pugh age 85, passed away Tuesday morning, November 7, 2017 at her daughter’s home. She was born April 12, 1932 to her parents, the late Cling and Lena Todd West. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Pugh; son, Tommy Pugh; son-in-law, Tim Cantrell; 3 sisters, Helen Alexander, Wavil Bush and Dortha Earls; 2 brothers, Jack West and W.C. West. Ms. Ruth was a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church. She was an Elementary School teacher, having taught at Gassaway and Woodbury. She and Jack also ran a dairy farm. Survivors include 2 daughters, Jackie Cantrell of Smithville, Lori (Chris) Hall of Forrest City, NC; 8 grandchildren, Stephanie Kirby, Hunter Pugh, Ben Pugh, Abby Cantrell, Caleb Hall, Wesley Hall, Alayna Hall and Lydia Hall; sisters-in-law, Margie West of Woodbury and Jenelle Pugh of Dowelltown; several nieces and nephews and special caregivers, Joy Fay Carter, Pat Sanders, Nancy Cantrell and Becky Sullens. Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, November 10, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday 12 Noon until 8 PM and Friday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
