67 year old Shirley Jean Southard of Smithville died Friday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a waitress and a Baptist. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Mt. Holly Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Washington and Margaret Elizabeth Arnold Caldwell; one son, Earl Bryant; two daughters, Rita Cantrell and Trina West; and a brother, Jr. Caldwell. Survivors include a daughter, Monica and husband David Summers. One grandson, Travis Summers; one granddaughter, Cindy and husband Ken Taylor; and four great grandchildren, Devin Summers, Shauna, Abbi, and Kenlee Taylor all of Smithville. One sister, Marie Nixson of Watertown. One brother, Tommy Caldwell of Dowelltown. One sister-in-law, Patsy and her husband, Jesse Drury; a special friend, Phyllis of McMinnville, several nieces and nephews also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
