A.Z. Jack Judkins

88 year old A.Z. Jack Judkins of Smithville died Saturday at Centennial Medical Center. The funeral will be today (Monday) at 1:00pm and visitation with the family will be today until service time at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Bonham Cemetery. He was retired from Bobby Phillips Construction. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Lorene Cantrell Judkins; three brothers, Jess, Edd, and Frank A. Judkins; a sister, Bet Judkins and two sons-in-law, Wayne Bates and Kenneth Evans. Survivors include four daughters, Vicky Bates of Smithville, Karen and her husband Charles Pollard of Sparta, Janice Evans of Georgia, and Melissa and her husband Jeff Ward. One son, Randy Judkins. Four granddaughters, Angel and her husband Charles Burrage of Smithville, Jennifer and her husband Aaron Young of Sparta, Amanda and her husband Doug Tuder of St. Louis and Tia Ward of Smithville. Two great grandsons, William Cody Burrage of Smithville and Joshua Rice of Sparta. Four sisters, Ophaline Knowles, Nettie and her husband Johnny Ringo all of McMinnville, Martha Ferrell and Ruth Cantrell both of Smithville. Dillard Parkerson

85 year old Dillard Parkerson formerly of Brush Creek, died Friday evening at Quality Care Health Center in Lebanon. Born in DeKalb County, he was the son of the late Oliver and Movie Malone Parkerson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Foutch Parkerson and by his brothers, Toy, Elbert, M.B. and Jim D. Parkerson; sisters, Isabelle Stephens, Bessie Fitts, Sallie Parkerson and an infant sister. Dillard was a carpenter and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by sons, Randy Parkerson and wife, Janet of Lebanon, Gary Williams and wife, Ann of Westmoreland; sister, Ruby Nell Parkerson and brother, John (Ruth) Reynolds both of Alexandria; sisters-in-law, Sherry Parkerson of Smithville and Elizabeth Parkerson of Alexandria; nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hunter Funeral Home with Chaplin Lemuel Wade officiating. Visitation Noon till 9 p.m. Sunday, 4-9 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. till service time on Tuesday. Interment will be at New Hope Cemetery, Alexandria.

Alfred Landon Hale

76 year old Alfred Landon Hale of Smithville died Thursday at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was a retired self employed landscaper and a member of the Open Word Tabernacle. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Sam Kinzer will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Ararat Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:30 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lealh Hale and nine brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife Nell Hale and one son, Allan and wife Sonya Hale all of Smithville. Sammie Edwin Malone

85 year old Sammie Edwin Malone of the Temperance Hall Community died Thursday at NHC HealthCare Center. He was a farmer. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Yancey and Allie Claro Page Malone. Darice Elaine Cantrell

51 year old Darice Elaine Cantrell of Smithville died Wednesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Donnie Kelly will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:30 p.m. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Taylor Melton and husband, Sean Cantrell. Survivors include three sons, J.W. and Kasey Cantrell of Louisiana; Steven Cantrell of Oak Ridge; and Josh Melton of Smithville. Calvin Davis

90 year old Calvin Davis of Liberty died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah The Baptist Church and he was a retired construction worker and farmer. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Tim Pelham and Tim Pack will officiate and burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hassie Pearl Davis; and three sisters, Nancy Bain, Eastie Bain, Willie Bandy, and Louise Ramsey. Survivors include his wife of 68 years Rosa Lee Davis of Liberty. Four sons, Van and wife Mary Davis of Smithville, Donnie and wife Genrose Davis of Liberty, Mike and wife Elaine Davis of Liberty, and Tim and wife Jo Ann Davis of Pea Ridge. Eight grandchildren, Vanessa and Anthony Pelham of McMinnville, Amy Davis of Pea Ridge, Jana and Patrick Crook of Alexandria, Alayna and Bill Fowler of Liberty, Amanda Lane Davis of Murfreesboro, Courtney Davis and fiance Mikey O’Conner of Liberty, and Brandon and Ethan Davis both of Pea Ridge. Lou Verna Redmon

91 year old Lou Verna Redmon of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC Healthcare Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mount View The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Dennis Wood and Mike Clayborn will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshal Andrew and Elmer Belle Jones West; her husband, J.P. “Dock” Redmon; a grandson, Kyle Robinson; two brothers, Myrtis and Edwin West; and four sisters, Ida Margie Jones, Ruth Melton, Vilda Young, and Frances Pirtle. Survivors include three children, David and wife Patricia Redmon of Smithville. Linda and husband Jimmy Crawford of Smithville, and Donnie and wife Cindy Redmon of McMinnville. Seven grandchildren, Kim Taylor, Mark Robinson, Kevin Robinson, Amy Seber, Amanda McCracken, John Redmon, and Andrew Redmon. Four great grandchildren, Tre Taylor, Kirstie Taylor, Elizabeth Seber, and Maggie Robinson. Two sisters, Helen Raymond of Smithville and Jo Ann Smithson of McMinnville. Joyce Louise Fann Young

76 year old Joyce Louise Fann Young of McMinnville died Wednesday at her daughter’s residence in Dowelltown. She was born May 15, 1936, in Muncie, Indiana, was a former employee of Wal-Mart, and was of the Baptist faith. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother Doris Cronin Orsborn and her husbands Billy Fann and Herman E. Young.
Survivors include her children Mark (Jo Ann) Fann and Terry (Gina) Fann all of McMinnville, TN, Vicki (Webb) Jeffries, Dowelltown, TN, Kevin Fann, Port Saint Loucie, FL, Pat Fann, McMinnville, TN, and Christopher Fann, Baxter, TN. 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral service is 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 08, 2013, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Tyree Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. and again Friday from 10 A.M. until 1 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.

Jerry E. Wright

63 year old Jerry E. Wright of Smithville died early Wednesday morning at NHC of Smithville. He was a Baptist and a retired truck driver with IMI. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mike Clayborn will officiate and burial will be in the Mount Holly Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Aubrey and Lear Wright and a sister, Linda Wright. Survivors include two daughters, Kristie Davis and Jammie Wright of Lebanon. Three grandchildren, Gregory Davis, Jacob Davis, and Alissa Wright; and one great grandchild, Kaden Davis all of Lebanon. Two brothers, Aubrey and wife Jo Wright of Smithville and Clancy Wright of Tiptonville. Two sisters, Eva Dean and husband James Kennedy of Gallatin and Judy Wright of Smithville. Rufus Ed Kelley

74 year old Rufus Ed Kelley of Spencer and a native of the Temperance Hall Community died Monday at Generations in Spencer. He was a farmer. A graveside service will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery. Larry Steffee will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at which time the family will leave for the cemetery. Kelley was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Shelley Kelley; brothers, Elzie Kelley and Cordell Kelley; sisters, Reba Ione Young and Lorene Foster; and several other loved ones. He is survived by step-brothers, Robert Presley of Smithville and Donald Presley of Lebanon. Nieces and nephews, Robert and wife Dana Kelley of Hickman, Brenda Driver of Smithville, Jerry Foster of Smithville, Prentice and wife Jan Foster of Sparta, Randall Young of Smithville, Vicky and husband Dan Crews of Chattanooga, Larry Young of Smithville, and Garry and wife Christine Young of Smithville.
