Quentin Caplinger

88 year old Quentin Caplinger of Smithville died Saturday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a retired restaurant owner and a member of the Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Tommy Taylor and Mike Clayborn will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. unti the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lona Hill Caplinger; a son-in-law, Kenneth Hughes; five brothers, Clarence, Charlie, Obie, Rayford, and Monroe Caplinger; and four sisters, Ruth Sandlin, Elsie Caplinger, Ione Cantrell, and Geraldine Summers. Survivors include his wife of 65 years Frances Caplinger of Smithville. Two children, Sue Hughes and Gary Caplinger of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Ryan Hughes and Westin Caplinger. Two great grandchildren, Brady Hughes and McKenna Hughes. A brother, Doston and his wife Ruth Caplinger of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 77 year old Ann Miller of Smithville died Thursday at her residence. She was a member of the Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was retired from Kingston Timers. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Glenn Warren, Gary Hancock, and Reed Miller will officiate and burial will be in the Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clay and Callie Murphy Cook; her husband, Charles Miller; and a son, Steve Miller. 59 year old Gary Marshall Carter of Smithville died Tuesday morning at his residence. He was a logger and a member of the Whorton Springs Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. David Mahan and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Carter was preceded in death by his father, L.G. Carter; his maternal grandparents, Estill and Lena Judkins; and his paternal grandparents, Alfred and Allie Carter. Survivors include his wife, Glenda Popplewell Carter of Smithville. 55 year old Judy Ann Thomason of Smithville died Monday at the emergency room of DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and her faith was non-denominational. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Richard Franklin will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. 91 year old Mary Louise Griffin of Fairborn, Ohio and formerly of Portsmouth, Ohio died Friday at Dayspring HealthCare Center in Fairborn. She was retired from Kenner Toy Factory and was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Portsmouth, Ohio at 1:00 p.m. Adam Streitenberger will officiate. Recitation of Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Monday at Melcher Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Griffin was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Dena Zappa Francia; a daughter, Mary Lou Cotterel; and eight brothers and five sisters. 79 year old Billie Joyce Taylor of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Baptist, a former cashier with H.G. Hill Food Store and she was a former factory worker at Texas Boot. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. 76 year old Duane Patterson of Nashville died Saturday at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. He was a Baptist and was self-employed. A graveside service and burial will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at which time friends and family will leave for the cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Robert and Juanita Maxwell Patterson. He is survived by two brothers, Alex Patterson of Murfreesboro and Mack Patterson of Springhill, TN. She was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church, an Avon Representative for over 40 years, and a retired deli manager for Piggly Wiggly.
