100 year old Mary Helen Hooper Chambers of Nashville died Wednesday at the McKendree Village in Hermitage. She served in the U.S. Army and was a retired secretary for Union Oil. A graveside service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Cannady Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wade Hampton and Susie Frazier Hooper; brothers, Charles, Ernest, Howard, Johnny, and Clyde Hooper; and sisters, Aileen Jaehn, Estelle Hooper, Charlene Bannick, and Sue Kinsley. Nathan Estes

38 year old Nathan Estes of Smithville died Tuesday at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Smith County. He was a member of the Mount Hope The Baptist Church and he worked as a miner at Nyrstar Zinc Mine in Smith County. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dwight Knowles will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John Estes and his maternal grandparents, Sterling and Roberta Martin. 93 year old Bessie Lee Atnip of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired secretary with various local businesses and a member of the Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Larry Green will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruby Clemmons Organ; a daughter, Gayle King; two brothers, Wendell and Billy Organ; and a sister, Betty Jo Organ. Survivors include two sons, Charles and wife Betty Atnip and John and wife Betty Jean Atnip all of Smithville. One daughter, Phyllis and husband Ronnie Tramel of Smithville. 67 year old Bobby Dale Redmon of McMinnville died Sunday at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was a member of the McMinnville First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home. Ray Weddington and John Jones will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cephas and Wilma Young Redmon and a sister, Carolyn Bond. Survivors include a niece and her husband, Donna and Steve Daj of Harvest, Alabama. 91 year old Dorothy Evelyn Lambert of Alexandria died Wednesday at Woodbury Health Center. She was born in Arcadia, Florida. Lambert was a school bus driver. A memorial service is planned for a later date. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Worley and Elsie Tyler Worley; her husband, Clifton S. Lambert; brothers, Paul Worley, Jr., Jim Worley, Jack Worley, and an infant brother. Survivors include daughters, Gayle and husband Richard Reinsch of Ball Ground, Georgia; Suzanne and husband David Dunn of Alexandria; Paula Lambert of Maryland; Michael S. Lambert of Titusville, Florida, and Kenneth Lambert. Four grandsons, two granddaughters, three great granddaughters, and two great grandsons. Sisters, Wanda Piper, Martha Queen, and Sandra Finley. 92 year old Louelle Taylor of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired Smithville shirt factory employee and a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church. A graveside service will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home at which time the body will be taken to DeKalb Memorial Gardens for the graveside service. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Dee Bailiff; mother, Amanda Helen Tramel Bailiff; husband, Alvie Taylor; two sisters, Mairene Keith and Talpha Moore; a brother, Charlie Bailiff; and a niece Sarah Tramel. Survivors include three daughters, Joyce and husband Charlie Stanley of Kentucky, Janis and husband Steve Anderson of Nashville, and Shirley Taylor of Murfreesboro. 75 year old Evelyn Butler Speakman of Smithville died Friday at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville. She was a member of the Covenant Baptist Church and a retired Food Service Supervisor at Tennessee Tech University. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. 85 year old Katherine Watson of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired factory worker and a member of the Walker Memorial Baptist Church in Franklin. Ms. Watson’s request was to be cremated. Burial will be in Frazeysburg, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Joseph Watson; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Watson; a son, Charles Allen Watson; and a daughter, Laura K. Valentine. Survivors include two children, Robert E. Watson of New Lexington, Ohio and Joseph E. Watson and Ruth Nokes of Baxter.
