Funeral services for 83 year old Stella Mae Clemons of Cookeville will be held at 2pm Friday from the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Baxter.
The family will receive friends from 5-9pm on Thursday and again on Friday from 10am until the hour of the services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Clemons passed away on Tuesday morning, September 17, 2013 in NHC Health Care in Sparta.
She was born on June 17, 1930 in Putnam Co. to the late Haskell and Flossie Pippin Dyer.
Mrs. Clemons was of the Church of Christ faith and was affiliated with Double Springs Church of Christ.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Wanda Jane Kelly of Clarkrange, TN and Mary Sue Hillis and husband Steve of Rock Island, TN; 3 daughters-in-law, Linda Clemons of Alexandria, Tn, Lynda Clemons of Nashville, TN and Sue Konko Clemons of Florida; 5 sisters, Gladys Chaffin and Ella Chaffin of Cookeville, TN, Altie Knowles, Linda Brown and Reba Turner of Smithville, TN; brother, Raymond Dyer of Smithville; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her best friends, Lois and Claude Maxwell.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Clemons; 4 sons, Carroll, James, Darrell and Ronnie Clemons; and 5 brothers, William, Hubert, Gordon, Franklin and Earl Dyer.

James M. “Jimmy” Ervin
85 year old James M. “Jimmy” Ervin of Smithville died Thursday after a brief illness of cancer. He was born in Smithville to the late Wilson and Maggie Ervin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Ervin and Glenn Ervin. He graduated from DeKalb County High School in 1946. Ervin served in the U. S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a Shriner in the Masonic Lodge. He was owner of Ervin Service Station for thirty years. He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Spencer Ervin of Smithville; daughters, Jane Parsley (Vester) of Smithville and Alice Moseley (Aubrey) of Murfreesboro. He is also survived by five grandchildren; John Parsley of Smithville, Rebecca Skipworth (Shane) of Huntsville, AL, Sarah Parsley, Julie Wolfe (Tony) and Rachel Peters (Kyle) of Murfreesboro; one great grandson, Mason Peters; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Ervin and Jeannette Ervin. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. The service will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark Bass and Dr. Bill Palmiter officiating. Burial will be at DeKalb Memorial Gardens following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church or American Cancer Society. A special thank you to Dr. J. C. Wall and the staff at NHC for the excellent care Jimmy received. Barbara Ellen Dost
A Memorial service for 83 year old Barbara Ellen Dost of Cookeville will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Dwight Henry will officiate.
Mrs. Dost’s family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 pm until service time at the funeral home.
Dost died Sunday, September 15 at home in Cookeville, TN. surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 7, 1929, in Merrill, Michigan to the late Chauncey and Ruth Witchi Shebester.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew John Dost; son, John Dost; and brother, Joseph Shebester.
Barbara was gifted with a loving, kind, caring, compassionate, and accepting personality. She naturally thought of others first and put their needs ahead of her own. She was a blessing to her entire family.
She loved reading to take her away to exotic places, watching game shows to challenge her mind, and taking long walks with her family to enjoy nature and keep fit.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Jim Loy of Smithville, Gail and David Gentry of Cookeville; sister, Mary Dost of Fair Play, SC; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Dorothy Shebester of Crescent City, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; and special pet dog, Harley.

Doris Ann Riddle
58 year old Doris Ann Riddle of Liberty died Wednesday at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. A DeKalb County native, Riddle was a homemaker and a member of the Prosperity Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. David Tramel and Jerry Harwell, Sr. will officiate and burial will be in Anderson Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her father, James Corley Anderson and her husband, Gerald Lee Riddle. Survivors include her life companion, David Graul of Liberty. Mother, Lavelle Anderson of Murfreesboro. Brother, Garry and wife Lori Anderson of Liberty. Nephews, Garry Anderson and Michael Anderson both of Liberty. Robert Bobby Ray Mann
68 year old Robert Bobby Ray Mann of Smithville died Saturday at his residence. He was a construction worker. His request was to be cremated and no services to be held. Mann was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Geneva Summey Mann and a son, Johnny Mann. Survivors include three children, Patricia Rice of White Pigeon, Michigan; Bobbie Herrmann of Constatine, Michigan; and Michael Mann of Union City, Michigan. Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A sister, Fredia Craft of Smithville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers in memory of Bob.
Donnie E. Wanger
78 year old Donnie E. Wanger of Smithville died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was born in West Virginia, a waitress at Creighton’s Restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and a member of Salem Baptist Church. The family has chosen direct cremation with a memorial to be held at a later date. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilber Wilkerson and Nellie Dawson; husband, Richard Wanger; brothers, Paul Wilkinson, Adrain Wilkinson, Roy Wilkinson, and Larry Wilkinson. Sisters, Gloria Wilkinson and Mary Plantz; grandson, Jake Hoover, and great-grandson, Jake Ryan Davidson. She is survived by two children, Tammy and Craig Hoover of Liberty, TN., and Kim and Beth McDougal of Monticello, Fl. Grandchildren, Ryan Davidson of Ft. 77 year old Richard Ray Lockhart of Smithville died Wednesday at NHC of McMinnville. He was a Mason of Liberty Lodge #77, Shriners, and American Legion. Lockhart was also a member of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church and a retired business owner of Village Market. Mr. Lockhart was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Bill Robertson will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. A Masonic Service will be Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Lockhart was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Hattie Billups Lockhart; his wife, Frances Johnson Lockhart; a step-son, Gus Johnson; three brothers, Howard, Edgar, and George Lockhart; and a sister, Ruth Lockhart. Survivors include a son, Gene Lockhart of Smithville. Two step-sons, Larry Johnson of Kentucky and Mike and wife Jeana Johnson of Lebanon. Seven grandchildren, Ashley Bogle of Smithville, Jay Lockhart of Woodbury, Melissa Muskopf and John Johnson both of Smithville, Nathan Johnson of Alexandria, Ben Johnson of Lebanon, and Mollie Johnson of Kentucky. Shane Talbert Usrey
35 year old Shane Talbert Usrey of Smithville died Wednesday in the emergency room of DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a former employee of Star Manufacturing and he helped coach the DeKalb Junior Pro PeeWee Football Team. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Brad Trapp and Listeth Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m.. He was preceded in death by his Father, Harold Usrey. Survivors include his wife, Renee Usrey of Smithville. Three sons, Tyler Malone of Alexandria, Cameron and Matthew Usrey both of Smithville. 61 year old Russell Fann died at his home Thursday. Born in Cannon County, Fann was a member of the New Hope Church of Christ. He was a farmer and a retired employee of the State of Tennessee Highway Department. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the New Hope Church of Christ. Ralph Richardson will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Gardens. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Woodbury Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Fann; Uncles, Joe and Paul Wimberly and aunt, Mattie Lee Gannon. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon Fann of Woodbury. His mother, Mildred Wimberly Fann of Woodbury. Children, Derek and wife Alison Fann and Brooke and husband Josh Smith all of Woodbury. 46 year old Donny Joe Yeager of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Baptist and a construction worker. Mr. Yeager’s request was to be cremated. No services are planned.
