Rickey Lane Herndon age 58 of Smithville, passed away Sunday afternoon September 27, 2015 at Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. He was born June 18, 1957 to his parents, the late Millow and Vade Pauline Carter Herndon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother, Charles Wayne Herndon and maternal grandparents, Henry and Ella May Carter. He was a Pentecostal and a construction worker. Survivors include 1 sister-in-law, Brenda Herndon of Smithville; 1 nephew, Brandon Herndon of Smithville; 5 nieces, Tarron (Robert) Carter of Smithville; Vicky Cobble of McMinnville; Penny (Luther) Murphy of Smithville, Sonya Cantrell and Pamela Curtis both of McMinnville; 14 great-nieces and nephews, Zeel Carter, Nicole Godsy, Patrick Murphy, Justin Murphy, Sr., Zack Murphy, Justin Murphy, Jr., Dustin Herndon, Clint Cantrell, Stephanie Burgess, Jennifer (Garth) Coffee, Serenity Burgess, Owen Coffee, Logan Coffee and Eowyn Coffee. Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mike Carpenter officiating and interment to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 12 Noon until 8:PM and Wednesday 9:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. 85 year old Herman P. Mangum of Michigan died Monday, September 21 in Michigan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Visitation with the family will be Monday, September 28 from 3-7 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. 78 year old John Donnell Allen of Smithville died Tuesday. He was a 1955 graduate of Hillsboro High School, was a retired Metro School Bus Driver, and a Barber. He was preceded in death by a son, James D. “Jimmy” Allen; great grandson, Lucas Potts; parents, John W. Allen and Estelle Allen; sister, Thelma Jones; and a brother, Charles D. Allen. He is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline D. Allen and Robert Wolfenbarger; sons, Johnny D. Allen and Jeffrey D. and Debbie Allen; and their mother, Jo Ann; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; sisters, Wilda Luttrell and brother-in-law, Dub Littrell. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road, Nashville by Dan Gulley. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. 74 year old Loretta Arlene Brown of Smithville died Wednesday at Upper Cumberland Hospice House of Cookeville. She was a Baptist and formerly worked at Federal Mogul. The funeral will be Saturday at noon at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Estell Bilbrey will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at noon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Brown; parents, Oscar and Willie Bell Johnson Shoemake; a son, Oscar Thomas Bowman; a brother, Bill Shoemake; and a sister, Patsy Carter. Survivors include two sons, Ricky and wife Judy Bowman of Gordonsville and Darrell Brown of Smithville. One daughter, Pamela Whitehead of Sparta. Four brothers, Lonnie Oscar and wife Janie Shoemake of Baxter, Willis Glenn Sandra Shoemake of Sparta, Ronnie and wife Ann Shoemake of Cookeville and Dallas and wife Virginia Shoemake of Chestnut Mound. 77 year old Sarah Faye Truett of Alexandria died Tuesday at Tristar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian. A memorial service will be held at the Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Tim Diffenderfer will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Purser and Nancy Garrett. Truett is survived by her husband of 58 years, Clyde Truett of Alexandria. Pat was born August 19, 1978 to his parents, the late David Anderson Allen and Lynn Fenimore Allen Smith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Dave and Robert Allen, maternal grandmother, Patricia Fenimore and grandpa, Loyd Hale. He was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and loved the Duke’s of Hazzard. Survivors include his mother, Lynn Smith of Smithville; sister, Nanci (Eric) Drennan of Smithville; 3 brothers, Chris Allen (Resha Self) of Smithville, Mike (Janet) Allen of Smithville, Tommy Allen of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law, Suzanne Allen of Clermont, FL; maternal grandmother, Richard Fenimore of Smithville; special grandma, Josephine Hale of Smithville; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held 2:PM Monday, Spetember 21, 2015 at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church with Father David Cooney officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. She was born January 5, 1941 to her parents, the late Woodrow Wilson and Mary Madgline Davenport Lawrence. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Curtis, Sr., granddaughter, Kimberly Curtis, grandson, Robby R. Curtis, sister, Daphne Cross and brother, Danny Lawrence. Ms. Evie was a homemaker and member of the Providence Baptist Church. 86 year old Ellen Taylor Hendrixson of Nashville and a native of Smithville died Tuesday at Lakeshore Heartland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleveland and Carrie Taylor; husband William “Bill” Hendrixson; brothers, Grady Taylor and Ralph Taylor; and sisters, Irene Judkins and Virginia Hendrixson. She was a homemaker and member of the Faith Temple Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Terry Hendrixson of Franklin, Jerry and Dewayne Hendrixson both of Nashville. Thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Stanley, Margaret and husband Earl Vanatta, and Lena and husband Edward Maynard all of Dowelltown. She was born April 8, 1952 to her parents, the late Audie Lee and Willie Jean Vasser Bailey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Glenda Ford and Kathy White and special nephew, Jeff Ford. Ms. Lattimore was a factory worker and attended Faith Baptist Church. She is survived by 2 daughters, Rachel (Billy) Anderson of Sparta and Ashley (Jason) Satterfield of Smithville; 3 grandchildren, Haylee Mullican, Jordan Farley and Cloey Anderson; 4 sisters, Pat Ford, Faye (Tim) Martin, Nancy Bailey and Reba Scott all of Smithville; 1 brother, Roger Dale (Kathy) Bailey of Smithville; several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
