Marie Robinson age 86 of Smithville passed away Saturday night, March 7, 2015 at her residence. She was born March 21, 1938 to her parents, the late Talmadge and Myrtle Moore Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Robinson; daughter, Linda Malone; son-in-law, Wayne Blair; 5 sisters, Alta Vandergriff, Wilma Cubbins, Edith Seals, Ova Driver, Lena Vanderpool. Marie was a member of the Snow Hill United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer and was a member of the Snow Hill UMC Cemetery Committee for close to 40 years, she retired from Kingston Timers. Survivors include 1 son, Tim Robinson of Smithville; granddaughter, Whitney (Logan) Roberson of Boaz, KY; Son-in-law, Don (Pat) Malone of Chattanooga; step-daughter, Sue Blair of Smithville; step-grandchildren, Vickie (David) Haggard and Tim (Holly) Adcock; step-great-grandchildren, Katie and Ryan Haggard, Caroline and Jackson Adcock; 1 sister, Margie Close of Olive Branch, MS; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 1:PM Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Kenneth Clayton and Perry Clayton officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 2:PM until 9:PM and Wednesday 9:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM. Willow Dean Atnip Keyt age 86 a native of DeKalb County and a longtime resident of McMinnville and Knoxville, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was born April 11, 1928 to her parents, the late Burley L. and Novella Curtis Atnip. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Keyt, Sr., 4 sisters, Gertrude Worley, Viola Jelinek, Elsie McKeever and Alene Holmes Ladd; 3 brothers, Oliver Atnip, Jack Atnip and Dale Atnip. Dean was a member of the Madison Street Baptist Church and was a nursery worker. She is survived by her son, Charles E. Keyt, Jr. of Knoxville; granddaughter, Cassandra Keyt Berry of Charlottesville, VA; 1 brother, Jim Solon Atnip of Georgetown, Louisiana; 1 sister, Ruth Atnip Johnson of Monroe, Louisiana; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services and interment will be 1:PM Monday , March 9, 2015 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. There will no visitation or services held at the funeral home. 73 year old Jo Ann Hughes Nichols died Saturday at Woodbury Health Care.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years: W.R. Nichols of Woodbury; Daughters: Arlene Wilson (Dewey Barrett) of Woodbury and Julie Fitts (David Speakman) of Smithville; Grandchildren: Jennifer (Joshua) Keomanivong, Andrea Davenport, Dana Davenport, Derrick Fitts, Jeffery “Bubba” Nichols and Dustin Nichols; Great Grandchildren: Kelvin & Jocelyn Keomanivong, Braxton Carter, Karlee Gladden and Natalie Nichols; Brothers-in-law, Thomas Earl Nichols & Roy Nichols; Siblings: Innette Gunter of Murfreesboro, J.B. (Ardana) Hughes of Warren Co. and J.C. (Joan) Hughes of Auburntown; Nieces and Nephews, Cindy Garrison, Jennifer Brown, Ruth Ann Watts, Cody Hughes, Lanny & Lyndsey Gunter; also surviving are many friends. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, and very many friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Clyde & Anna Belle Bogle Hughes and son, Jeffery William Nichols; sister-in-law, Ruth Harmon Nichols; Brother-in-law, William “Bill” Gunter.
Jo Ann loved spending time with her family, cooking, camping and fishing. Before she retired, she worked for Dekalb Telephone where she cleaned offices. She was a member of the Woodbury First Baptist.
Funeral Services will be 2 pm Saturday in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Van Nichols & Bro. Bobby Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in the Reed Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 1 pm to 9 pm Friday, March 06, 2015.

Kayden Ray Fults, 2, went to fly with angels Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Dekalb Hospital. He was a native of Warren Co.
He is survived by his Mom, Kaycie Lynn Fults and Dad, Mark Johnson of Smithville; Siblings: Landon & Adrian Fults, Karlee & Joshua Johnson, Brooklyn Barnes all of Smithville; Grandparents: Jacky Fults of Smithville, Melissa Foster (Kenny) Young of Shelbyville, Kathy Johnson (Rick Hindsley) of Smithville; Great Grandparents: Viola Foster of Woodbury; Martha Fults of Smithville; Carmine Bain of Dowelltown; Special Cousins: Matt, Angie, Jacob & Emma Campbell of Woodbury; Uncles and Aunts: Cody & Tyler Fults of Shelbyville, Mary Johnson of Woodbury, Fairy Johnson of Smithville and Angela Ferrell; Cousin: Bridget Fults.

Kayden was a beautiful boy who loved fire trucks and was a Jr. Member of the DeKalb Co. Fire Dept. 6206 ½. He also loved books and Sponge Bob.

Fay Adcock age 75 of Smithville passed away Saturday night at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was born November 8, 1939 to her parents the late Lester and Myrtle Adcock McCormick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Brian and Chris Adcock; daughter-in-law, Wilma Adcock; 1 brother, Melvin Adcock. She was a retired factory worker and attended the Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Franklin Adcock of Smithville; 2 sons, Ricky Adcock and Derwin (Beth) Adcock both of Smithville; 3 brothers, James McCormick of McMinnville, Bobby McCormick and Leonard McCormick both of Smithville; 3 sisters, Ann Hallum of Smithville, Linda Womack and Kathy Cannon both of McMinnville. Aiden Michael Briley the stillborn infant son of Katelyn Jean Hatfield and Michael Austin Briley died on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Erlanger Hospital. Baby Aiden was preceded in death by great-grandfathers, Terry Hatfield and Mark Lastinger; aunt, Sandra Studer, uncle, Kevin Lastinger. In addition to his parents, he is survived by 2 sisters, Gracie Sutherland and Kendall Briley; grandparents, Theresa Hatfield, Keith Hatfield, Jessie and Troy Banks, Dewaine Briley, Raymond Tague; many other great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Vernon W. Scott, 82, died Thurs, Feb. 26, 2015 at NHC of Smithville following an extended illness.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Jean Page of Alexandria.
Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram Fred Scott and Sylvia Lester Rogers Scott, his wife, Edith Faye Warren Scott, his son, Glenn Edward Scott and his brothers. Billy Melvin Scott, James Wiley Scott and Roy Scott.
Mr. Scott was a farmer and former policeman. He lived in the Dismal Community of Dekalb County.
Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday, March 3, 2015 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be from 9:00 am until time of service Tuesday.

75 year old Austin Colwell of Smithville died Friday morning at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a self employed mechanic. A memorial service will be held at a later date.. No visitation will be held at the funeral home. Colwell was preceded in death by his parents, Abe Jackson and Clara Summers Colwell and two brothers, Lynn and Willie Abe Colwell. Survivors include a son, Barry and wife Denise Colwell of Sparta. One daughter, Darlene and husband Larry Coleman of Chattanooga. Two step sons, Gerald Brown of Nashville and Todd and wife Cindy Brown of Sparta, Four step grandchildren. Ex wife Gracie Colwell of Smithville. 72 year old Toy B. Mullican of Smithville died Thursday at NHC of Smithville. He was a farmer and a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Tommy Ashford will officiate and burial will be in Taylor Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Mullican was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Beulah Carter Mullican; two sisters, Rena Ashford and Lena Faye Mullican; and six brothers, Jimmy, Billy, Jackie, Troy, James, and Gene Mullican. Survivors include a daughter, Tammy and husband Bob Burch of McMinnville. Three grandchildren, Robert, Hunter and Kiana Burch all of McMinnville. William Hayden Evans, age 83 of Clinton, Tennessee, author, journalist, banker, businessman and retired army officer died February 22, 2015.
A native of DeKalb County, Tennessee, Hayden was born June 21, 1931 and was preceded in death by his parents Haden Holland “Buster” and Alta Mai Caplinger Evans of DeKalb County, Tennessee and first wife Margaret Alda “M.A.” Boyce Evans.
He is survived by wife Valeda Joyce Evans; son, Boyce Hayden Evans and wife Teresa of Clinton, TN; son, John Williams Evans of Clinton, TN; daughter, Anne Margaret Evans Moyer and husband, Randolph of Chesapeake, VA; grandsons, John Hayden Evans and wife Kelli, William Evans and wife Brittany, Randolph Moyer, Jr., and Jake Moyer; granddaughter, Margaret Anne “Maggie” Moyer; great granddaughter, Sarah Evans, great grandson, Hayden Daniel Evans; brother, Edgar Royce Evans and wife JoAnn of DeKalb County and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Hayden received the Master of Arts and the Bachelor of Science degrees from Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He also attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Gordonsville High School, Gordonsville, Tennessee; a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; a graduate of the Management School of Banking Marketing, University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin, and a graduate of the Tennessee School of Bank Trust, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee. He taught history in the evening schools of the University of Maryland in Seoul, South Korea and the University of Kentucky at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Hayden retired from the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant Colonel, Armor Branch, after a 20 year active duty career. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster for combat action in 1968 with the cavalry squadron of the First Infantry Division (Big Red One).
Upon retirement from the Army, Hayden was employed as a trust officer by Union Peoples Bank (later First American Bank and currently Regions Bank) in Anderson County. He attained the position of Senior Vice President and upon retirement from First American was a Regional Manager.
After retiring from First American in 1989, Hayden co-founded Creative Writing Services and Publishing Company, which was sold in 1994. He then became director of communications for Temp Systems Inc., a temporary personnel staffing service. He was a columnist and correspondent for the Roane County News, a columnist for Senior Living Newspaper and a frequent contributor to the Middle Tennessee Times and the Carthage Courier newspapers, and insideandersoncounty.com as well other publications. He was the author of Turning Ground a book about life in rural Middle Tennessee during the first half of the Twentieth Century.
A member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Clinton, Hayden served the church in many capacities including trustee, the administrative board and chairman of the staff/parish committee.
Hayden was a member of several civic and professional organizations in Knoxville, Anderson County and Roane County. He was chairman of the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce twice and a member of the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce and the Roane County Chamber. He served as interim president of the Roane County Chamber during its search for a new president in 1981. He was co-founder and longtime board member of the Oak Ridge based Tennessee Mountain Writers, Inc.
