89 year old Ressie “Bill” Luna of the Johnson Chapel Community died Friday afternoon at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Johnson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Peeled Chestnut Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reefus Luna; parents, William Richard and Minnie Acuff Luna. Four brothers, Burt, Hack, Wayne, and Otis Luna and two infant sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie and Marco Chacon of Sparta. Two sons, Larry and Angela Luna and Dwight and Maria Luna of Sparta. Seven grandchildren, Lisa Haycox, Larry Luna, Heather Guy, Brian Luna, Angel and Erick Chacon, and Kristi Gallahand. Four great grandchildren. Three great great grandchildren. Three sisters, Margaret Moore of Nashville, Bee Cook of Dickson, and Jessie Hawkins of Alabama. One brother, Ernest Luna of Colorado. Jo Ann “Mama Jo” Robinson

Jo Ann “Mama Jo” Robinson age 79 of Smithville passed away Thursday night at her residence. She was born February 20, 1936 to her parents, the late Kise and Pauline Bennett Kelly. zin addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Robinson and 1 brother, Troy Kelly. Ms. Jo was a member of the Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church, a retired shirt factory worker and a homemaker. Survivors include 3 children, Gloria (Steve) Losie of Cumming, GA; Tammy (Charles) Lowe of Smithville; Beckie (Richard) Werpecinisky of Smithville; 7 grandchildren, Charity Rodriquez, Kristopher Robinson, Chris (Rachel) Lowe, Jamie Werpecinisky, Dowing Burke, Jonah Burke and Briley Werpecinisky; several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Sunday, December 20, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial to follow in Bonham Cemetery. Kathy “Kat” Foster Martin

Ms. Kathy “Kat” Foster Martin, age 47 Smithville, passed away Wednesday at Centennial Medical Center, Nashville. She was born March 11, 1968 to her parents, the late Walter Foster and Mainell Lawson Melton. In addition to her father she was preceded in death by a sister, Fran Melton. Kat was affiliated with the Smithville Church of God, an employee of Johnson Control and a waitress . Survivors include son Ryan Herron of Smithville; Mother Mainell (Carlon “Uncle Dad”) Melton of Smithville; Step-Mother, Brenda Foster of Smithville; 4 Brothers, Doyle (Angie) Melton of Walling, Keith (Rachel) Melton of Smithville, Tommy Melton of Smyrna, Gentry (Zarita) Melton of Bell Buckle; 2 Sister,s Anita (Donald) Byrge and Gina (Craig) Vaughn both of Smithville; Special friend Vernon Bennett of Dowelltown. Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Funeral services for Ms. Kathy Martin will be held 2:pm Saturday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jeff Armstrong and Bro. Michael Hale officiating and internment in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Roy Lee Jones

70 year old Roy Lee Jones of Sparta died Saturday at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was a deacon for 20 plus years at the Johnson’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He was also self-employed as a sewing machine salesman. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Paul Taylor will officiate and burial will be in Johnson’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Left Jones and Elizabeth Ashburn Jones. One son, Gary Jones. A brother, Joe Jones. Two sisters, Rosell Robinson and Clara Nell Stoglin. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lou Jones; a son, Steve Jones; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Josh Holloway; three grandchildren, Marley Jones, Luke and Lauren Holloway; a brother, Frank and JoAnn Jones; and a sister, Oneida and Harold Massa all of Sparta. Ruth Dobbs

Ms. Ruth Dobbs age 80 of Smithville, passed away Sunday morning at Alive Hospice at Skyline in Madison. She was born July 31, 1935 to her parents, the late George and Emma Barnett Froeliche. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don Dobbs and 1 sister, Nancy Gammon. Ms. Ruth was a member of the Smithville First United Methodist Church, a commercial artist and involved many years with the Humane Society. Survivors include 5 children, Clark Allen Dobbs of Panama, Bill Womack of Memphis, Clark Dobbs of Huntsville, Al, Becky Givens of Horn Lake, MS and Ron Dobbs of Smithville; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; 1 sister, Mary Catron of Smithville; 1 brother, Ron Froeliche of Baxley, GA; 1 brother-in-law, Joe Gammon of McMinnville. Funeral services will be conducted 3:PM Wednesday, December 16, 2015 with Bro. Tom Fittis, Dr. John Carpenter and Bro. Joe Gammon officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 12 Noon until the time of the funeral at 3:PM. 90 year old Vincent Prinzivalle of Smithville and formerly of Detroit, Michigan died Monday evening at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital. He was born to his parents, the late Joseph and Angelina Ardito Prinzivalle. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Cantrell Prinzivalle of Smithville. A daughter, Kimberly Horsley of Smithville. A son, Nick Prinzivalle of Michigan. Two grandchildren, Joel Prinzivalle and Nicole Kolevar. A sister, Cathy Marrero of Florida. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale and Paul Connelly will officiate and burial will follow in the Burton-Ponder Cemetery. Rex Lee Fathera

46 year old Rex Lee Fathera of Alexandria died Saturday at UMC Hospital in Lebanon. Born in Rutherford County, Fathera was a distribution center manager. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Freddie Curtis will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time. Fathera was preceded in death by his parents, Emmette Fathera and Athlee Johnson; brothers, Henry, James, and Junior; and a sister, Roberta Giles. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Tyria Fathera of Alexandria. A son, Dakota Fathera of Alexandria. A sister and brother-in-law, Dianna and Fred Earl Curtis of Alexandria. Ethel Keith Ashford

102 year old Ethel Keith Ashford of Smithville died Saturday at the Webb House Retirement Center. She was a 60 year member of the Eastern Star, having joined in 1955. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a 48 year member of the Smithville Business and Professional Women’s Club. Ashford was a homemaker and a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Keith and her second husband, Willie Brown Ashford; parents, Dennis and Julie Ann Arnold Tramel; three brothers, Ernest, Haskel, and Walter and James Tramel. Six sisters, Nancy Nokes, Beatrice Bryant, Velma Reeves, Elrissa Whitlock, Myrtle Smith, and Lena Vann. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Ann and husband Joe Don Parkerson of Watertown. Two sons, Wayne Keith of Florida and Randall and wife Brenda Keith of Lebanon. Seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. One brother, Reverend Dennis Calvin Tramel of Smithville and a sister, Ruby Deal of Nashville. Frances Edeene “Dedi” Hastings age 77 of Smithville and formerly of Nashville passed away Saturday morning at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She was born July 24, 1938 to her parents, the late Robert Ed and Joe Ben Fuson Coffee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynda Hastings. She was a member of the Brenthaven Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Brentwood and was an Executive Assistant at Fifty Forward. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Robert Hastings of Smithville; 4 sons, Steven (Pam) Hastings of Marion, VA, Joseph Vance of Louisville, KY, Bobby Hastings of Knoxville, and Chris (Cheryl) Vance of Smithville; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; special extended family, Jean (Emmett) Walker, Gail Fletcher, Ann Clay. Funeral services will be conducted 11:AM Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Don Tabor officiating and burial to follow in Salem Cemetery. Miss Andrea Lee Redmon age 61 of Smithville passed away Friday afternoon at her residence in Smithville. She was born July 6, 1954 to her parents, the late Jackson Lee and Kelvie Euthlynn Wright Redmon. She was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church and was a medical technologist. Survivors include 1 sister, Jacque (Jimmy) Hale of Smithville; 1 nephew, Tyson Hale of Smithville; 1 niece, Audrey Adams of Hermitage; 2 aunts and 1 uncle, Gail Blair of Smithville, Lucille Beshearse of Panam City, FL, and Leffel Redmon of Smithville. Graveside services and interment will be 3:30 PM, Sunday, December 6, 2015 at New Union Cemetery with Bro. Michael Hale officiating.
