77 year old Thomas Byron Nixon of Alexandria died Tuesday at Lebanon Health and Rehabilitation Center. Nixon was born in Sykes, the son of the late Ruby Lee Willoughby and Willie Fred Nixon. A step-brother, Odell Winfree and a step-sister, Novella Wilkerson preceded him in death. He served in the United States Army in 1954-55. Nixon worked in banking in Davidson and Wilson County. He was a member of the Mount Juliet Lodge #642 F & A.M. and a member of the Alexandria Church of Christ. The funeral will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria. Burial will be in the Union Hill Cemetery in Sykes. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 10:00 a.m. Nixon is survived by his wife of 54 years, Fay Christian Nixon of Alexandria. Sons and daughters-in-law, John Fredrick and Nicky Nixon of Sandy Springs, Georgia and Barry Steven and Sandra Nixon of Lebanon. A daughter and son-in-law, Greta Faye and Marlin Massey of Corinth, Mississippi. Seven grandchildren, Daniel Asher Nixon of Sandy Springs, Georgia; Joseph Micah Nixon of Sandy Springs, Georgia; Megan Leigh Nixon of Lebanon; Jordan Paige Nixon of Lebanon, Joshua Christian Nixon of Lebanon; Thomas Benjamin Massey of Corinth, Mississippi and Nathaniel Martin Massey of Corinth, Mississippi. Great granddaughter, Keegan Christian Nixon of Lebanon. Aunt, Georgia Paschal of Lebanon. Step-sisters, Clara Lee Vantrease of Alexandria and Lee Ett Anderson of Carthage. Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ or to the American Diabetes Association.
