97 year old Thomas “Great Tom” Faulkner of Smithville died Tuesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He worked for the U.S. Government. Faulkner also served in World War II and he was a Presbyterian. Mr. Faulkner’s wishes were direct cremation. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Frank and Sara Whisonant Faulkner; wives, Sally and Pauline Faulkner; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors include a son, Charles and his wife Margaret Faulkner of Arrington. Three grandchildren, Melissa Bennett of Arrington, Brian Faulker of Nashville, and Kathryn Welden of California. Three great grandchildren, Charles and Olivia Bennett of Arrington and Araxie Welden of California. A memorial service will be announced later. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
