Mr. Vann Woodside age 87 of Dowelltown passed away Thursday night at his residence surrounded by his family. Vann was born February 24, 1928 to his parents, the late Hobart and Mary C. Grandstaff Woodside. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Matthew Neal Vickers; 2 sisters, Mitchel Walden and Dorothy Hancock; 1 brother, O.T. Woodside. He was a faithful member and Deacon of Dowelltown Baptist Church, a U.S. WWII Army Veteran, member and past Master of DeKalb Lodge #358 and retired from TRW Ross Gear. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Billie Woodside of Dowelltown; 3 children, Vicki (Russell) Vickers of Dowelltown, Craig Woodside of Smithville and Jeff Woodside of Dowelltown; 5 grandchildren, Natalie (Brian) Page of Cookeville, Holly Wood of Smithville, Pat Woodside of Knoxville, Brooke Woodside Johnson of Smithville and Kevin Woodside of Murfreesboro; 3 great-grandchildren, Eliana Page, Patrick Woodside, III, and Jaden Johnson; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Sunday, November 22, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Jeff Cripps and Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Salem Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 12 Noon until 8PM and Sunday 10AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. A Masonic Service will be Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.
