95 year old Vena Fuston of Smithville died Friday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church for 83 years and was a Sunday School Teacher and the Church Clerk for 37 years. She was also retired from the DeKalb County School System, a factory worker, and a homemaker. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Dry Creek Baptist Church. Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Fuston was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fuston; parents, Palace and Nancy Curtis Crips; a brother, Austin Crips, and a sister-in-law, Tincy Crips. She is survived by a son, Bob Earl Fuston and his wife, Linda Fuston. two grandchildren, Tony and wife Robbin Fuston and Gina and husband Richard Close; three great grandchildren, Trey Fuston and Caden and Conner Close; and two step grandchildren, Keshia and Westley Poss all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Dry Creek Baptist Church.
