79 year old Virdie Alfred Bennett, Jr. of Smithville died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. The body is at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home where the service will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Ron Gleaves will officiate and burial will be in the Gordonsville Cemetery. The Bennett family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. He is survived by seven children, Mary I and husband William Murrey of Greenbrier; George Duke and wife Benilda Bennett of Alexandria, Virginia; Paula T. and husband Steve Cole of Hendersonville; Paul James Bennett of Spring Hill; Anna Belle and husband Doug Derryberry of Hermitage; Mark Francis Bennett of El Paso, Texas; and Scott and wife Donna Bennett of Gordonsville. Eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. A sister, Lucille and husband Earl Sanders of Panama City, Florida. The Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
